The best part about this game was me recovering 8GB of SSD space when I uninstalled it.

Two important caveats to this positive review:

**CPU Bound** The game is in desperate need of a performance pass, as it will pin your CPU, dropping you deep into reprojection territory once you start the main story. Lowering graphics does not help as this is a physics/CPU problem, not GPU.

**NO Native INDEX Support** It works with Index controllers, but they are rendered like Vive wands in-game, and the button mappings and controls expect Vive wands when you launch using an Index.

If you can look past these pretty major shortcomings, there is a lot of good stuff happening with this game. The writing and level design are both excellent, though the environments themselves are very sterile compared to other modern titles.

The sneak-and-explore gameplay is compelling and very immersive. Even with the minimalist art style, you'll want to have your brown pants close at hand for those "gotcha" moments. If the environments were even one 'slider tick' more detailed, this could have been a real masterwork in exploration. Bit of a missed opportunity there.

Most objectives have several paths to completion, with tons of collectables and related achievements to discover en-route, satisfying the completionist and adding replayability for the collectors out there. I found the exploration of side areas oddly reminiscent of hunting for Doomguy colletcibles in Doom 2016, which isn't a bad thing.

Overall, the pros outweigh the technical problems, esp. since the problems *can* be fixed through an investment from the developer - though they have stated in the forums this will not be any time soon. Expect to play it with the warts for the foreseeable future.

The kids LOVE this game, and since upgrading to the Index, I love it too.

Why am I so excited to leave work so I can play a job simulator?

One of the best attempts at a realistic environment in VR to date, given current hardware technology. Immersive worlds with a gripping story line and solid gameplay put this title near the front of the pack for modern VR titles.

Note that this is a seated experience, and you're controlling an on-screen avatar using a game controller, so no room-scale at all. The videos really do accurately reflect the brawler-type action so check those before buying.

Note that - like with even the best VR games out today - the visuals in VR are not on par with the pancake version shown in promotional videos. I recommend dropping visuals in the settings until you can hit 140% to 150% render scale (using the in-game menu) at a solid 90 Hz or 120 Hz refresh, depending on your HMD. Any kind of visible aliasing will diminish your experience in this game, a large part of which leverages the stunning, but computationally expensive, environment.

NB: This is a controller-type game without a roomscale interface. You can however control the game using different motions controllers in seated mode.

I'm only 20 minutes in so far, but this game is hilarious, and production value is obviously very high. I suspect the brand of humour isn't for everyone, but if you can appreciate Rick and Morty, you're going to love this one.

Excellent utility not just for profiling games and tweaking refresh/sampling, but also sports a number of advanced tweakables like color saturation.

If you've ever set your supersampling rate manually, or modified your HMD refresh for the best experience in each game, this tool is definitely for you. It's quickly working it's way to the top of my "must-have" VR utilities list.

Several serious problems with this game that I just can't get past:

- INSANE CPU requirements. I'm on a 5GHz 6600k/32GB Ram/2080 rig and the game was unplayable, even at minimum settings. I assumed the very heavy CPU overclock would put me in playable territory, but nope. 25 minutes into the game, the world was still generating.

- Even with Bloom fully disabled, there are killer god rays/light shafts during the daytime which block your view across 1/3 of the horizon.

- Lighting is all-or-nothing. If you step one meter out of broad daylight at noon, you can no longer see the ground at your feet or what is in front of you.

- Blacks are very unrealistic and overblown. Suffers from extreme "black crush" where things are either fully lit or completely black.

- Gathering implements frequently become stuck in the environment, combined with the visibility problems, this makes for a very disorienting and confusing situation

- There is a bug (apparently with the engine) which causes shadows to be rendered differently in each eye, causing a visual dissonance. This is very noticeable in trees, bark textures, animal textures and flat environment faces.

Overall, I have to recommend giving this game a pass not only for the reasons above, but also because it feels very incomplete and lacking "things to do" for the current price point.

I may revisit the title in the future, but as of today this will be the first of over 100 VR games I own which I will be refunding.

Just fired it up for some training and a few rounds.

First impression: Already the most polished and fun boxing experience in VR. Just as much exercise and immersion as Thrill of the Fight, but it feels like a full-on game with training area, some character customization, fleshed-out environments, etc.

Also: be ready for a workout like with Thrill of the Fight. You'll be ducking, dodging and dancing even on the first fight.
