I am proud to say I grew up on this one for years, finished it multiple times on PS3 with all gold. Still a challenging game even on easy, it's not like I ever breezed through it or anything. You'll definitely get alot of gameplay on this one, back in the day I spent countless hours on freeride. Coming back to it on PC with 60fps and a PS4 controller has been great so far. I used a program called DS4 and mapped out the Gyro and Touchpad to the reflex movements (Right Stick), and I gotta say the interaction is pretty cool. Just tilting the controller around to steer and trick (Basics like whips, does those really well) made for a nice active experience I never had before. I was able to get in some advanced maneuvers with unique control, will say though I wasn't getting the exact precision I wanted. The gyro seemed to drift off alot and I think I actually had to invert the Y axis for this one, but that could've just been DS4. I also think the game can be overwhelmed by input causing things like instant reflex fails, and keep in mind that you'll have to keep the controller flat otherwise you'll just have constant input.

I just mapped it out on steam and it had alot more gyro support such as minimum threshold input (Kinda like a reverse deadzone so the gyro doesn't pick out every movement), it even accounted for you're natural resting position if you can figure it out, and a bunch other stuff I'd need to research to fully understand, it's nice to have the support though. I bet it's still got it's limits, it was really only ever used on PlayStation exclusive games for interactive & quicktime events, it wan't really ever intended for accuracy. I think the Touchpad definitely has potential, I wasn't really using it for the reflexes because it seemed a bit out of my way. With the right binds I think it could be great for tricking, such as the right side Touchpad so it's easier to reach. Certain tricks like flips I had a hard time keeping momentum, but for busting out quick combos I could see it useful. Take everything for what it is, it's just a fresh spin off a 2010 game.

I do think this was one of their best ones. Glad to say I got experience multiplayer back in the day when it was still played, which was really cool for this type of game. I played all the old ones on PS2, some even through Netflix; And it was just cool to see the franchise develop over all the years. It's a solid game with really great physics, the mud trails or "ruts" was always the highlight for me, there's something really cool about digging a hole with your bike. I will say I don't think shes optimized the best, in certain races where there's alot of riders on the screen you'll get some drops (Down to 30-40, maybe lower sometimes in short bursts. I maxed it but still), I also got 6Gb VRAM. Still runs better than your 10 year old PS3, much better. I'm gonna enjoy reliving this one (Hmu if anyone ever wants play)

Coming back to this review, the steam gyro was way worse. I imagine a guy could get it right, but ds4 won't even work for me on this game anymore even with steam input disabled. Very irritating. Anyways I realized that the game is actually pretty easy even on normal. BUT it is crucial to have the correct tune/build for each track, allowing you to really connect with each line. All the vehicles are good (They must be used properly and accordingly to the challenges) but I find that you'll need to have what build/tune you'll want in mind before you end up buying. I suggest the ones with their base stats being as close to your intended tune as you can, It'll allow you to get even that much more out of it which'll always be sure to keep you at the top of your class. Don't sleep on the MX 250, it has a exhaust mod that gives you 4-5 more tuning points then and mod in the game. This basically allows you to max out your top speed, or acceleration. Ultimately making it the most versatile vehicle in the game

I got DS4 to work too so that's definitely good. Had a problem with the UTV's and Sport Buggy's though, where I'd only get throttle when slamming R2. Don't know if its because I'm using a PS4 controller, but it was like that on steam too, after changing my R2 sensitivity to 1.30 percent, it felt very natural. There's also there texture lines on the screen and once you see them they never go away, I actually wish I could modify that somehow

I could talk about how great Halo is, but I'll just get to the details. My MAIN pet peeve with this engine/collection is the Anti-cheat, I'll explain why. When you load the game through anti-cheat it automatically prioritizes the game as "Below normal" and you can't change it, unless you wanna load it without anti-cheat (much faster btw). And I get not being able to earn achievements without anti-cheat, the part that I don't get is that you can use powerpoint and the computer thinks its a higher priority, that's real messed up to the people who want access the content and achievements and have the game run to your rigs fullest potential, and I don't care what parts you're running or how many frames you can already get, because you can get more without anti-cheat.

I'll admit I'm bitter to the situation, I just completed Halo CE on heroic and realized I didn't even earn half the achievements, nah. they stopped cold in it's tracks after I loaded up task manager and saw whats up, didn't come to mind that I wouldn't earn achievements without anti-cheat. I know that plenty of players that could breeze through CE on heroic, but to the average player who played it once 10 years ago, it takes a good amount of effort and even more time, and now all my time is unaccounted for.

If you're curious about the remasters I got some to say there too. I really enjoyed Halo CE Anniversary, I'll admit it was kinda a different game though, a much brighter game, you pretty much don't even need the flashlight. The atmospheres gave a different vibe so I can see why classic players didn't like it, most of the scenes you'll find in anniversary are significantly brighter, but not all of them. I'd say the only darker scenes were in the 4th mission inside the ship. In my opinion the anniversary graphics really show off indoors, and most of the scenes from outside still looked good but differentiate a bit from the classic. I will say some of the cutscenes and such are a bit broken at times

I can say for sure that the Gem of the collection is Halo 2, they obviously didn't put as much time into CE. I can't say much about it because my computer doesn't run it nearly as well as it did CE. It's definitely a modern spin on Halo 2, and I can say that what I've seen so far is pretty relevant to the classic. As great as the game looks, I don't think its optimized very well, I don't think that's where they put they're time in. I experience great frames when not too much is going on, I will have occasional stutters, some are way worse and longer than others. Everytime things get going though, the frames don't look great for me. My PC says I'll only go down to 40, but honestly it looks like 20 or less. I could be wrong, and I had it maxed out but still.

It's still a great franchise, but with all being said take it or leave it. I got mixed feeling on the whole thing

One of my favorite games. I've played this game many times NOT on steam. I highly recommend.
