Nobody on steam has played this game more than me. i'll put as much effort into this review as the dev team did making rage 2...(fart noises)

Game is ok during the first 2 play-throughs and even most of UVHM, but as a commando player, I became frustrated at the lack of viable coms/builds at the end game. Still having fun with the Pre Sequel, but this game really punishes you for trying to be different which is ironic, obviously...

EDIT: Since Borderlands 3 is coming out this year, I'll expand on my pros and cons of BL2

PROS:
*Humor, but it ain't for everyone. The quips that the baddies say when you shoot them are some of my favorite things in any game.

*Missions: Some of the missions are really fun.

*NPC's: Handsome Jack in particular...and censorbot...

*Graphics: Nice to look at. This game looks fantastic on high settings.

*Optional Multiplayer: It's nice to be able to join up with people sometimes for whatever reason

*DLC: Lots of extra-curricular stuff to do outside of the vanilla game

*Intuitive Gameplay: If you need to shut power off somewhere, just follow the electrical cables to the switch! What I'm trying to say is that things make sense in the environment and in the game.

*Baddies and Bosses: Many of them are great fun to fight and blast through

*Extra Difficulty and Character Levels: Being able to allocate more skill points is always good in my book. I found myself always wishing I had more points to spend.

*Weapons: Easily one of the biggest draws to the series. So much variety. There's a gun for just about every playstyle.

CONS:
*Mission/Level Design/Backtracking: Waaaaaaaaay too much back and forth throughout the game. At least 50% of your in-game time will be spent travelling which is one reason why it's so easy to rack up hours in Borderlands 2. Travelling sucks. Period. And retreading a level because you missed a mission is not fun, it's annoying.

*Baddies and Bosses: Many of them are fun but many of them make me want to break some stuff irl, like marauders, rats, stalkers, I could go on. It's not so much that these enemies are bullet sponges or anything, but they all have irritating abilities and behaviors that make me want to shut the game off, instead of playing more and trying to beat them. Maybe that's just me.

*Fighting: I'll catch flack for this but while the guns are great fun to hunt down and collect, you will have to use the most efficient guns in the endgame, not necessarily the most fun guns or even the guns you prefer, but the weapons that bring the enemies down the quickest. And reloading....can we just get rid of reloading guns if it's not supposed to be a simulation?! I can't tell you how many times I died whilst reloading. This is neither fun nor strategic, it's a pain in the butt and it sucks the FUN right out of a fight. I know people will poo-poo me for suggesting that games maybe look at getting rid of reloading, but this isn't a realistic game, so why can't we just focus on FUN? Doom 2016 doesn't have reloading and the combat feels really satisfying.

*DLC: Some of it is very fun, alot of it is filler, a little of it is tedious.

*Multiplayer: If you're not with your friends, then plan on flying through a level faster than you ever thought possible so you can get to the end boss or farming area or whatever. No exploring, no slowing down. Multiplayer is about the destination, not the journey...

*Music: I've never liked the stripped down acoustic twanging that BL2 uses. i shut it completely off almost right off the bat and then later on, I would just play music in the background since you don't really need to hear stuff while your travelling around everywhere. The music stinks and the music I've heard in Borderlands 3 stinks too.

*Story: While I love many of the characters in the story like Handsome Jack, Roland, Lilith, Claptrap, and Shade, I always found myself struggling to get through the story missions during my playthroughs. It's just kind of tedious, even with Handsome Jack there to propel it along. I really hated Brick, too...

*Some Poor Design Choices: I'm going to focus on COMs again since they really bummed me out. Some of the COMs that are more fun to use just don't give you enough buffs to warrant their use. You can tell the COMs weren't done how Gearbox wanted because The Pre Sequel does them much much better.

EDIT #2: So a new dlc dropped for Bl2 and I tried to get into it...but the combat is just very unfun. I unload my mag into baddie, i reload and unload again, and again and yadda yadda. The point is that enemies take so long to kill that I end up just watching the little life bars above the enemies instead of the enemies and surroundings. If you've ever played WoW then you'll know exactly what I mean. I want my shots to matter. I want to feel powerful, not weak. I know that I've put alot of hours into the game, but I stand by this review.

That's it. Now, to wait for the outrage about reloading...

really enjoying the game, but 80% is locked behind DLC. I've completed the regular game. Now it's just play the same tracks, try and find a game online, or do the weekly challenge. bummer..

maybe i was drunk or someone peed in my cereal that morning, but i was wrong about the DLC. this game is allotta fun. is there a secret to finding multiplayer matches, though?

Game is fun, difficult, and the music is pretty good. Online races against others seem nonexistent at this point with everyone just doing time trials. If you don't care about racing against other human beings ever, then this is a very solid game.

Imagine if you took all the fun out of a football game. I give you BB2. Most infuriatingly dull, slow, "sports" game I've ever played. Wonder if I can get my money back?
