The first 100 hours of the game were really challenging. Challenges are good and fun. I had lots of options of how to proceed and this is one of my favourite stuff about this game. The freedom to do whatever your soul might want, the vast variety of items and building, the artistic part of our inner selves being able to mess around, or the obstacles that you learn to surpass so as to become stronger. Lots of potentional lies around the game. Although, after you defeat the final boss of Terraria, you might feel an empty feeling inside you, because you will be standing there, thinking- I finished it, now what? Even after you finish the game, there are still lots of stuff to do, as long as you know what you want them to be or find them. Multiplayer is also very fun. Playing in your friends' worlds, looking what they have done and both of you teasing each other. I'd personally say that Terraria is a very good option, especially for all those explorers, perfectionists and warriors out there. What are you waiting for? Give it a go, you won't regret it, unless you are of that kind which gives up when they find themselves in a dead end. Even so, there is a special application called "tModLoader" that let's you add even more content in the game and make it more exciting! I recommend you to play modded Terraria after finishing the vanilla version only.
