What a game.

I've always been a big fan of survival horror games, from Resident Evil to Silent Hill, this genre has defined itself using creative and interesting narratives and immersive environments.

SIGNALIS took all that element and knocked it out of the park.

If terror is suppose to be terrible, and horror suppose to be horrible, then I can only describe this game as utterly *Dreadful*.

From start to finish, the game gave me a strong sense of dreadfulness, from the oppressive music and sound design, to the scarcity inventory space and ammunition. Not at any moment of the game I felt at ease, what's behind every door is unknown, through every stage of the game requires you to be extra careful. Could it be an empty room, or could it be a room full of enemies? Could it be a room without lights? Those are the question that you will for sure kept asking yourself during your play troughs.

The environmental story telling is magnificent, every page of note scattered across the floor, every piece of flesh and bone, every drop of blood on the stainless steel floor, gives a clue as to what tragedy has occurred to this place. Every page of notes reveals to us that this place was once peaceful, what used to be the dormitory of friends, now covered in blood, its door sealed by the flesh of those who once lived here.

Any survival horror has to have its puzzles. From tuning radio frequencies to defeat a certain enemy to the more traditional reading notes and figuring out the pass code, the puzzles are fun and yet challenging at the same time. It is just within my ability to solve most of the puzzles without any help.

The story itself I could argue is what makes this game a magnum opus in the survival horror genre. Its unique setting and art style has definitely grabbed my attention from the get go. The subtle transition between flash backs by changing the players perspective is definitely one of the best way of story telling in recent years.

I can go on forever about this game, there has a lot I haven't mentioned, such as the weapon design, animation detail, its heavy Evagelion influences and so much more.

I here by give the developers of this masterpiece my greatest gratitude and my utmost respect.

If you haven't played the game, please play it, it is one of the best games I have ever played.

I've made a promise.
