Alright, I have too much on my mind to let this slide so here I go. (INCLUDES SPOILERS)

First I want to talk about what I enjoyed. It took me 40 hours to complete Act II. These 40 hours were some of the best experiences in a game I've ever had. Fully exploring the world and seeing the decisions made have an effect. (Siding with the goblins and saving the nightsong are two clear examples) But after getting to Act III the game fell off in many ways which I'll talk more on later.

Combat was great having some knowledge already from 5e and the Divinity series. Played through on balance. If I play again I'll try tactician. All fights were fair, nothing seemed impossible and the abundance of variety of classes and weapons etc made combat interesting for the most part no issue here.

The world itself through all acts was enjoyable to explore. My favorite being Act I. All the areas felt unique and I definitely enjoyed experiencing as much of it as I could.

Romance and relationships were for the most part alright. Very linear choices for your party, either romance them or not. Rarely an in-between which is an issue if you're not trying to sleep with any and everyone and maybe just maybe wanna be friends but oh well. In my playthrough I chose to side with the goblins and did sleep with Minthara which set the ball high. I wasn't expecting much but the romance with shadowheart was lackluster in comparison. But to summarize everyone's horny for you, have fun if you want.

Now I want to briefly go over the ui and inventory. Inventory management and ui is decent. Has a lot of potential to improve on. I remember in divinity 2 there were bags that had labels on which made inventory management very easy. Wish this or something better was in this game. But besides this little to no issues.

Now for the reasons why I'm turned away from playing through the game again.

I'll start with the bugs. I didn't experience any "game breaking bugs" but a lot of annoying ones all the same. One of them was a stutter or delay in combat which at times pissed me off waiting for my turn or an AIs turn to end after they finished their turn.
Another bug in combat was that for some reason randomly I wasn't able to inspect. This made Raphaels and Cazadors fight take a another try or two cause I didn't know how to break the pillars or stop the ritual.
THE MOST ANNOYING BUG WHICH I HOPE IS A BUG IS YOUR CHARACTERS NOT FOLLOWING YOU WHEN YOU HAVE THE PARTY GROUPED TOGETHER. THIS BUG CAN BURN IN HELL. Alright sorry so for example I have a full party of half illithid we all can fly sometimes I fly and randomly one character doesn't follow. Minutes later I realize and have to backtrack. This wasn't a one time thing happened to me so many times it became a recurring check to make sure everyone was doing what they already should have been doing.
Can't think of any other bugs but these I hope will be fixed for the eventual second playthrough.

Of course following bugs we have Act III or what I'd like to call a rushed tragedy. Now for me to properly go over Act III we have to go over the story.

The story of bg3 is freaking great until Act III. We have to save ourselves and we eventually realize we can't remove the tadpoles so we look to the source, the elder brain. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a huge brain is the big bad, OH WAIT THERE'S PEOPLE CONTROLLING THE BRAIN. At this point I was fully impressed and involved with where the story was going and you slowly learned about the Dead Three and their Chosen and all that good stuff. Now the best part of the game story wise is the end of Act II the final showdown with Ketheric. I was happy I set the nightsong free and saw the outcome she had on the towers. Cause I don't think anyone was really expecting an Apostle of a freaking God. This was the first fight I was actually like "oh ♥♥♥♥ let me think about what I'm doing on my turns". And having the nightsongs help played a big roll.

Now this sadly is where the story and the game goes downhill and it's honestly depressing.

I'm the type of playing to do every side quest or option available to me before the main quest and in this case stopping the elder brain. So because of this in the first hour or two of clearing out everything I had to do in the city I hit lvl 12 which I didn't know beforehand was the max.
This was a major disappointment as I felt like there wasn't any reason to explore the rest of the city as I wouldn't be getting that much out of it.

So I ended just doing everything I could anyways and that included your party's personal quests. And this is where Act III shines for me. In my playthrough I had Laezel Astarion and shadowheart.

Shadowhearts backstory peaked in Act II and came to a sad conclusion in Act III I chose to free herself from killing her parents. Actually made me consider my choices and was a sad experience.

Astarions was a little disappointing before we got to the ritual with some brief hints and mentions throughout Act I and II, but after hearing all the game for over 50 hours about Cazador and what he's done to my man Astarion watching him get used in the ritual and ascending Astarion was so satisfying. Overall I loved his story but ngl had little to no feeling for the other spawns as we barely were introduced to them so didn't really feel bad in killing them all lol.

Now Laezels story was the one I was most interested in and had the most connections with the main plot. It also had the most disappointing ending for me. I ended up making Orpheus an illithid and using his to stop the brain leading in his death. Which I first of all found disappointing and I'll talk more why in a bit. But we here all game about Vlaakith the ruler of Laezels people and learn how she's changed the history of what actually has happened and how she's misleading her whole people. Crazy right? Sounds like a good boss right? Especially with Laezel going to stop her right? Yeah the end of my story with Laezel was do I persuade her to stay with me or go stop vlaakith. You know what I want to do go stop Vlaakith. But no games over sorry. Major disappointment. But going to freaking he'll to retrieve the hammer and fighting Raphael who I consider the hardest, most enjoyable, and the best fight in the game was one of my favorite parts of the game of course. The song was a banger. This doesn't make up for Laezels disappointing ending though.

Now before I talk about the main story's plot I'll say this. If it wasn't for my party's stories and plotlines I would've not only not considered playing the game again but not recommended it at all. These characters made the game because the main story sure as hell didn't. I do look forward to eventually playing through with the other origin characters.

The main plotline sucks in Act III and you can't deny it. First of all there's too many choices. Side with the chosen or kill them. And in Act III when dealing with everything else going on and the elder brain. The other two Chosen Gortash and Orin don't feel as important.
I'll talk about Gortash first. In my playthrough he offered me an alliance I was like bet ill just come back to kill you later. For the rest of Act III besides the destruction of the steel watch and the iron throne he's afk in the story. So fine I need to go get his stone whatever. He's so irrelevant that he isn't even a part in Baldur's Gate he's in a fortress by himself before the fight in a different area doing literally nothing. The fight didn't even last me long enough to know if he does anything cool. There was 0 tension and definitely not anything at all to do with his God.
Now Orin has a little more impact. She pops in randomly and her cult is murdering people in the city alright cool we should stop her. For me she kidnapped some random kid I didn't care about. So we go to save the kid after becoming Bhaal assassin by killing a might as well be civilian. I wasn't necessarily evil or good so it had no meaning to me.
