Castle of no Escape 2

*Disclosure* I received this game free of charge from the Developer Xitilon.

The sequel of Castle of no Escape,
Where you go to a castle with a demonic owner which you must defeat because you are a hero with a job to do! Explore the 216 rooms of randomly generated enemies and find the all of the artefacts to proceed onto the owner himself.

Positives:
  • First of all the game allows you to choose from a range of different languages which is great to expand the audience of this game.
  • The music by Esdeer is absolutely fantastic and they deserve a lot of credit because games with great music makes the game experience all that much better.
  • The animation is beautiful and really smooth, it flows really well with the pacing of the game.
  • There are 6 playable characters, but 3 of them are locked meaning you have to achieve some feat to unlock them. In addition to this, the three characters have their own stats allowing you to chose someone who is fast at attacking, or someone who has higher attack or higher defense. This will tie into how you play your game.
  • If you are struggling with what to do, or understanding the game. The developers have added in a manual. It opens up as a .PDF file and it has multiple pages and it is very thorough for what you need to know. Explains a lot and helped me understand what to do.
  • Good range of enemies, there are 15+ and they all have different looks and attacks, which are different and must be avoided in different ways, meaning you must take different approaches to enemies but also travel the castle with caution.
  • There is a level editor so you can make your own room by placing the enemies and where they spawn on a tile, save it and it adds to the collection of enemy formations.
  • Randomly generated rooms allow for variation and a different experience every time you start the game.
  • Various hazards that can up the difficulty of a room, see the manual for a full list of hazards and what they do in the game.
  • Allows for controller support, to help those players who do not like to use the controls on the Keyboard or for the people who prefer a gamepad.

Negatives:
  • Sometimes the slime will come in and out of the textured floor.
  • Occasionally it will take you back to the opening of the cutscene from the start and when you died you may get frustrated with how this goes, whereas you’d prefer to go straight back into.
  • When I took screenshots and saw them out of game, it showed a little box at the top left, so there is a little bug when taking screenshots - Unfortunately this cannot be changed as it has something to do with GameMaker 8.1, the only way to fix it would be to remake the game.

I thoroughly like this game and I want to thank Xitilon for giving this to me free of charge. It's such an aesthetically pleasing game to look at and the music tops it off. With the hard dungeons to follow giving me a challenge which I love. I want to keep playing this game and support the developer as much as possible, love this so much.

I will constantly update if I have new finding or if more updates are released.

Please let me know what you liked and disliked about this review in the comments and I will use this feedback to get better in my reviews for the future.

Alien Arena: Warriors Of Mars

Alien Arena: Warriors Of Mars is an old school alien FPS with implementations of modern shooter features.

I like what COR Entertainment has done, it's kept its original format from the original games and kept it going. Seeing games like this warms my heart because I feel like FPS games have gone in the wrong direction with some questionable releases in the last few years. There needs to be competition and this game offers that.

Positives:
  • You have the option to play 'Practive Offline' which is against bots and you are able to choose the difficulty you want. Giving quite the experience for all of the difficulties.
  • While playing Offline or Online you'll notice a lot of weapon that can be picked up, just use the scroll wheel on your mouse and you can switch between all of these weapons you pick up. This gives the player a different playstyle for each weapon and therefore would approach the fight in different manners.
  • In the settings you are able to change quite the range of settings, look below for some screenshots of the settings.
    http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1192270451
    http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1192270391
  • Using the CRX gaming engine is a good idea personally as it wants to keep its retro look and its predecessors looks as the first alien wars game used this engine.
  • The fact it has achievements and steam cards is something not many small indie developers do, this gives the completionists a game to get their hands on a beat.
  • The gameplay was really fun, although there weren't many people in the online games I played, I still enjoyed the time and I would enjoy it a lot more if the community was a lot bigger.
  • Multiple game modes, such as Deathmatch, Capture the flag and Tactical. This gives a wide range of playability to the player and gets it's money worth.
  • Console commans allowing you to change settings in the game, also using /kill in situations as mentioned below.

Negatives:
  • The community is not big at all and therefore lacks in the online department as it would be a lot more fun with a bigger community. Having more players would mean the fights would be a lot more tense but also a lot more competitive.
  • There were a few textures that were broken, in addition to this there was an invisible wall I could not get past and it just seemed like it was out of place.
  • FPS dropped to under 20 on a few occasions, although it was for a few seconds everything, I feel like for an FPS shooter that issues like this need to be patched out.
  • Fire textures and particle effects were really bad, although it's using an old engine, I feel like there could be an improvement on the fire.
  • As I flanked the enemies ammo depot, I feel into a hole and I could not get out of it, luckily for there is console commands and used /kill to respawn, which is unacceptable in an FPS game.
  • Map is hard to read and doesn't allow for a larger view of it either, so you have no idea where you're going half of the time.
  • Death Ray A.I is dumb, just walked past one of them without it firing at me and therefore let the destroy the enemies power source.
  • The achievements are bugged as it says I already have played 10,000/10,000 games. Assuming this is something that can easily be fixed.

The game is a lot of fun, unfortunately the community is not very big but I found a lot of enjoyment through playing offline mode and if you could get a few friends to purchase the game too, you can wreck havock in the online mode against each other or with them. It's a lot of fun and for the price of 6.99GBP, you'll not regret it. I also think the game has a long way to go with a few of the bugs I encountered but other than that, I really enjoyed my time with this game and we should help the developers as much as pssoible to iron this game out.

Please leave a comment on what you liked/disliked about this game and I will use the feedback to get better at my game reviews for the upcoming games.

A game that I can't pronounce is a puzzle game which is very difficult and therefore earns the right to be a puzzle game.
It doesn't hold your hand at all and you must figure out what to do by yourself to proceed onto the next task.

Positives:
  • A very hard puzzle game that is for sure going to get you confused, but you must think about what to do to proceed and I think this is really unique they way they have set up the interface and the value from a puzzle game is great.
  • Allowing for a lot of change even within the first level was great, doing a series of tasks to get to the next part, one of the sections being changing the font multiple times and clicking boxes in a certain order.
  • If you do get stuck, there is always the 'WHAT' button at the bottom to tell you what to do, but it still isn't easy.
  • Originally the game was in Russian and the developers released an update to play the game in English, which is always better to range to new languages to expand the audience to play their games.
  • For the price of 0.79GBP, it's worth it as it will take you a long time to beat this game.

Negatives:
  • Some people may be put off because of the sheer difficulty it holds.
  • For what the game is, there isn't much content. This is not the purpose of this game though, the purpose is to stump you, this is where the content wins because it is time consuming.

Personally there isn't much to write on this game but I like this puzzle game. It's sheer difficuly thrives me to beat it and I'm sure it does to a lot of people and with how cheap the game is, I think people should support the developer and purchase this game.

Please let me know what you like/dislike about this review and comment, I will use the feedback to get better at my reviews for the future,

Thank you.

Early Access Review
The Rare Nine

Just to let everyone know, this is in Early Access and a lot can happen up until the release and some of you may not experience the bugs I came across. As mentioned the game has around 20% - 30% of content in the game right now.

The game itself is an "Ultrafast and explosive action platformer" you are able to travel the vast corridoors of a skyscraper as you slaughter zombies with 2 attack moves. Or a 'Rage' move that attacks in both the left and the right direction.

What inspired the Developer 'Top Eben' to make this game:
"Wow, I love hardcore games, like a Hotline Miami 1 & 2, love platformers, and I just wanna do something a little bit different, but with similar hardcore."

I believe that Top Eben has done a great job to make The Rare Nine a Hardcore platformer and has done something differemt, although a bit rough around the edges. He has made his dream come true and made the that he wants, with some polishing, this will be a game I will play a lot.

Positives:
  • The game is fun and is very hard which would be fun for hardcore retro players, which will give a sense of achievement once gotten to a specific milestone.
  • The 8-bit music a.k.a Chiptune, is really fun and great to listen to and really brings back a nostalgic feeling.
  • Artstyle is fantastic and a lot of detail has been put into the game making it more enjoyable to look at while slaughtering zombies.
  • Multiple characters to choose from (3) and they all range in difficulty too which is a great way to spread difficulty in mu opinion, but they have their own art and moves which I think is a great thing to do. Furthermore, this allows for a different play style against the zombies and the bosses.
  • There are 5 bosses spread out across the game, each of these could be found on every 10 floors which I believe is well spread out.
  • There are various types of enemies that all look really good, this is fantastic and I hope to see more enemy variation in the future.
  • Was very fast paced, although I do not like fast paced in FPS games. This was completely fine as this adds difficulty and challenge to the game.
  • Settings allowed me to change audio to my liking. Also, allowed to change resolution, but supports 1920x1080 resolution which is always good.
  • Allows to change language of the game (English and Russian), an improvement for this would be to add more languages to range to a larger audience of players.
  • Shows controls in the settings to allow players to see what it is to help them understand how to play.
  • The paintings on the walls of the skyscraper are awesome, saw a Pepe and a Slowpoke on them. Liking how Top Eben incorporated this into the game.
  • In the latest update (0.1.3) there has been achievements added, this will be able to challenge players to get them all and pose a challenge to them.

Negatives:
  • When I left the safe area through the first door, there were 3/4 zombies already spawned on me and I lost about 75% of my health which caused me to die momenteraly.

I really like this game and enjoyed the time there was no bugs, with the 20-30% of content, there is enough for me right now and hopefully soon more will be released to make the game to its full potential, but from what I see and have played, with some polishing. I see a really good game and I believe everyone should go and support Top Eben with this game and report bugs and things that could be improved upon.

Please comment what you liked/disliked about this review and I will use the feedback to help me with reviews in the future.

Thank you.

BANANO BROS.

BANANO BROS. is a 80's themed retro game that has done a very good job and giving it that feel and look. Allowing for the 80's generation to enjoy it and get a nostalgic feeling while playing.

This is Project Purity Team's first game and they've done such a good job. Although it doesn't have much content, it doesn't need it. The content is through yourself wanting to beat your personal score and beat your friends and family in the 2 player more in the versus mode.

The games aim is a vertical endless runner where you have to avoid coconuts and bugs and collect the bananos to gain a high score and the aim is to get the best score possible.

Positives:
  • The game aims to get the 80's retro look, Project Purity Team have such a good job with this and giving a middle aged person the nostalgic feels.
  • Ozzed has to be credited too for making such fantastic music that's hit right at the hearts and makes me remember playing previous retro games. Good job.
  • The ambition to beat your own score is a great way to get you to keep playing and many games fail to do tha nowadays so it's rare to see a game thats makes me want to do that.
  • There are 3 games modes (Single player, 2 Players and Versus mode) so there is a range of modes for you to play if you want to play with friends or siblings making for a more competitive atmosphere.
  • Retro games always allow you to get a super that makes you invincible and BANANO BROS. does exactly that, after collecting 50 bananos you will unlock your super which will allow for you monkey to gain speed and a cool costume but also to be invincible which is always fun. Furthermore, it will allow you to destroy the vines for an extra +50 points or the coconuts/insects for an extra +100 points.
  • As you climb, the sky will get darker as your going higher up, it only makes sense. It's a great feature to have as it makes it harder for you to see. In addition to this, the further you climb the faster it gets and the faster the coconuts/insects come making it much harder for you to dodge.
  • Allows for gamepad controls for players who prefer using a controller. But the game is easy enough to play with a keyboard.
  • Steam achievements are quite fun and they have a few jokes in the title of the achievement giving a little chuckle.
  • Settings allow you to see the controls but also change the audio incase it is too loud for the player.

Negatives:
  • Only negative I have about this game is that when you are done with your super, you will still keep the costumes on until you jump, althought it is a minor bug it has caught me out sometimes, thinking I could go through some bugs.
  • Quite buggy when you land at the bottom of a vine as it seems like it doesn't know which way it wants to go.

For 1.69GBP BANANO BROS. does an amazing job and for anyone who comes across this review should go and purchase this game to show support for the developers, but also have a good time doing it.

Space Epic Untitled - Season 1

Go and visit their website here: http://www.spaceepicuntitled.com/
Join and Build - Where you can help KUMA create what YOU want to play. Once you join, you can edit articles, create story lines, develop fun characters and even design your own space ships.

Space Epic Untitled is a 3D space shooter action game where you unleash hell on your rival pirate clan.

Season 1 is free, unfortunately the next season costs with a price of 3.99GBP
There is additional content of a FM2 Shotgun and a New Recruit Bundle. Coming to a total of 8.77GBP.

Although I like the fact the first season is free, there isn't much content to hold it as a 'Season', furthermore I got about 0.3 hours out of the first season and frankly I don't think it was a good experience. KUMA have a long way to go until they can be able call this a good game.

Personally I like the idea of having an application on the mobile devices allowing for more social interactions with friends/family. But it's a gimmick to attarct you as it is unique to most games, in the game there are features you cannot unlock without having the smartphone application installed which is a shame for the single player users out there.

Positives:
  • The settings allowed for audio, video and controls to be adjusted. Many free games do not have these functions and I am glad to have a function like this as the audio is always too loud when you start a game up, but I also like how the game informs you about the controls, as a space shooter; you'll need to understand the controls.
  • You get to name your ship whatever you want, even name your pilot which is essentially you, I like this feature as it can introduce variation in the game play where you can see other peoples spaceship names.
  • There are 4 variants of weapons to choose, unfortunately one of those are locked. But having 3 weapons in the first season is great to have.
  • Allows for a Gamepad, so you can get past the bad PC controls and play with an Xbox360 controller which is good integration as people may be put off with the bad handling of the mouse and keyboard.
  • On the mobile application there is a seperate interface for the Gunner and the Engineer. The gunner is in a manned turret on a gimble lock so they can move their phone and it'll move in the interface, giving a great experience. In addition to this, the engineer has an interface of the spaceship schematics and can see where the damage is when you get attacked.
  • The game can be played on Television devices such as Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV.
  • Live action video communication allowing for a more involved cutscene/story.
  • Shows you the controls before you fly your ship for the first time, incase you had missed the controls in the settings so it can help the player in the game.
Negatives:
  • First of all, the bad controls are the main thing that are very annoying. To just spin out of control when turning around, fortunately there is a Gamepad option which enhances the controls.
  • The mobile application has advertisements, for a game that uses the gimmick of a phone applications, having ads seem inappropriate for this.
  • You cannot use the boost in your ship unless you have either an engineer or a gunner.
  • You have to go out and mine ore 3 times, but you can only collect one piece individually instead of all at once which would be more beneficial, but it seems more like a chore than actual 'fun'.
  • After mining the ore, there is a cutscene and there are 2 voices talking over one another and this got me confused and frankly, unnaceptable for a game as you cannot hear what is going on.
  • Season 2 and the rest of the DLC comes to 8.77GBP and I dont think this is worth the price from the bad experience I had with the first Season.
  • The graphics are not the best and its quite an eye sore seeing bad textured asteroids floating around in a 'non vast space.
Frankly, I do not like this game. Although KUMA are doing a lot to get the community involved. If this game was able to get better controls and more content, then I would reconsider, but for the lack of content in the FREE first season, it wasn't worth my time. In addition to this, I don't think it is a good idea to spend 3.99GBP on Season 2 when Season 1 was a let down.

Please let me know what you liked/disliked about this review and I will take the feedback to help get better for my fututre game reviews.

GunGirl 2

First of all, go and show Paul Schneider some love and visit his page: http://www.paulinthenet.de/?page_id=5

Gungirl2 is a Free 2D platoformer made by Paul Schneider, also the creator of UNLOVED.

GunGirl follows GunGirl and/or GunDude through an epic quest to put an end to the zombie apocalypse that randomly started one morning when you woke up. Decided to grab a gun and kill some zombies.

First of all, the game was extremely loud and had to be turned down from my Desktop settings as there were no setting in the game to alter sound / display etc...

Positives:
  • There are three playable characters (1 of them is locked), this gives the game a lot of replayability value as yo may want to complete the game with each of the characters.
  • There are three difficulties ( 1 of them is locked), this also gives the game a lot of replayability, but the sheer difficulty of the game makes the game a lot more challenging.
  • The music is fantastic (Although loud), Josh Whelchel has done a great job to get the best genre of music for a game about slaughtering zombies. Really puts you in that mood.
  • The sound effects is spot on, when you're walking through water to shooting to anything, it has really been hit on the head when it comes to the sound effects.
  • There are six weapons to acquire through this game and they're all different giving you the player a different play style when using each of the weapons.
  • There is a GamePad support which I do like, as the controls for the PC are a bit confusion and all over the place so an addition to the GamePad use was a great move.
  • A simplistic design, giving us players the nostalgia of the good old days where 2D platformers were the biggest thing going, really makes you feel like it doesn't need to be a AAA game to enjoy yourself.
  • The game is free, meaning you do not need to purchase this game and gicing you between 4 - 8 hours of fun for free.
  • Cool features within the game such as 'Tombstones' that spawn the dead and making your stroll through thr world harder as you have to keep killing the undead. Furthermore, there are doors that shake in the Prison that hold a zombie behind making it quite scary if you do not expect it, but I like how Paul has implemented the design of the enviroment to hold zombies and surprise you.
  • The game has a lot of comedic value making cool film references time to time but also when GunGirl gets killed it has a black box over her body with the word 'Censored' in it making it quite funny to see the first few times you die.
  • The upgrading system is cool and easy to use, you will need 'Power orbs' which you can collect through the world or purchase at the shop to use. Giving you a different build of character every time.
  • There are actually a few secrets that I discovered by walking through some walls, this is a classic feature in many of the 2D platformers which I have played and I think it is a great idea.

Negatives:
  • The first thing that caught me off guard was how loud the audio was, I had to go to my desktop to turn the game down in my Volume Mixer; this cannot be adjustable in game either as there are no options to turn down the audio.
  • The controls are not very clear for keyboard usrs, however there is a gamepad setup for you there if it is neccesary.
  • Background looks like it was made in paint, however it doesn't need to look good to get a good experience.

Personally, I never had an issue with this game (Apart from the sound) and I thoroughly love this game, I would recommend this to any age range and any gender as this is perfect for everyone. It is also FREE!! So why not give it a go.

Thank you Paul Schneider for making a fantastic game and Josh Whelchel for making amazing Rock music to follow this game. You have both done a great job.

Please leave a comment on this review on what was good / bad and I will use the comments to get better in writing reviews.

Thank you.

Unloved

Explore the random generated maps alone, or with your friends battle through numerous dark / twisted asthetic monsters to essentially escape this nightmare.

Starting off, you get the pistol and you are next to an elevator which is your escape but you cannot access it... You can once you reach the end of the level and deposit 7 canisters of blood. Which then opens the door to the elevator for you to escape.

Positives:
  • In the settings, there is a great choice of resolutions giving more variation to people who want to play on specific resolutions.
  • Allows the use of a gamepad for those who prefer using a controller to keyboard and mouse.
  • Allows you to customise your game how you want, there are up to 4 levels which you can chose one which have their own unique theme, but you can also change the difficulty and the game mode which there are 4 of aswell.
  • Sound effects from the mosters are great and extremely chilling.
  • Online co-operative (Allowing up to 4 players a game - PvE)
  • Maps are randomly generated, giving a new path to the end every time)
  • Cheap game, for the fun you can get in it. it is worth every penny (Currently on Sale - Halloween 2017)
  • Items can be picked up throughout the levels such as Trinkets which can benefit your level.
  • The further you get into the levels, the faster paced it will get; giving players a harder game, more adrenaline.

Negatives:
  • Community is very small so it is unlikely to find multiple games to join, so must be played solo a majority of the time.
  • I found that you could not aim with any of the guns, since this is an FPS game I thought there would be some implementation of this, but no.
  • Changed the audio settings to low and when I left the settings, I was still getting really loud audio through my headphones which was ear aching.
  • Graphics are not the best, but this can be easily bypassed with the atmosphere and tension.
  • Blood and particle effects aren't that great either but like in the previous point, can be bypassed by how fast paced the game is.
  • Not much customisation on your characters as you can only change the colours of the outfit that you wear.

Ultimately, I really enjoy this game and for the price. It's worth it, the horror aspect is good and has given me a few spooks. I loved how fast paced it is and I love the twisted dark models of the monsters.

Please leave a comment on what you liked / disliked about this review and I will use this critisism to help get better at reviewing games.

Early Access Review
Quake Champions

Coming from someone who has never played the original quake games or DOOM's.
I do however like first person shooters and the competitive scene.

Considering this game is in Alpha right now, it does have a long way to go before the game is actually 'good'.

Positives:
  • I never got to unlock many of the 'Champions' as I have not played the game for much, but I did however have the default class of the Ranger who was the protagonist in the Quake game. In addition to this, from what I saw in the game modes, the Champions have unique play styles and 'specials' ranging from each Champions which can mix up the gun/game play a lot.
  • Doom Slayer and B.J Blazkowicz are new additions following the most recent installment of DOOM and Wolfenstein, their models are great also adding in new specials which are very handy throughout the game.
  • The grahpics are fantastic, the textures are really well done and you can see fine detail in each of the characters and the weapons, even the map themselves (If you get time to look around).
  • The Runes allow to get certain challengers which you must complete in the online game modes. The rune system is like DOOM and will benefit you once completed.
  • Very fast paced (Like DOOM) which can be an adrenaline rush to some people, unfortunately not me.
  • Customisation is pretty simple and isn't confusing and this is what some games struggle to get right.

Negatives:
  • The game is extremely unbalanced in my opinion. I have always liked FPS/competitive games and I have been semi-good at them but when I hop into this game, obviously the guys with higher levels own the better Champions and know the maps very well and the location of the guns which can oblitorate you in seconds. Therefore, I hope to see some balancing between the Champions and the guns themselves.
  • This is fast paced (Like DOOM; again...) which is fun yes, but in a competitive game; I don't think so. Its very strenuous on the eyes and its all a bit hectic as you're all jumping around the place and just hard to aim as everyone is moving so quickly.
  • Of course there are micro transactions to buy the latest skins and weapon; although I don't think this is a bad thing for competitive games, the thought of spending money on a game in Alpha puts me off.
  • If you're hot headed like I am, then you're going to rage and obviously that's an indication that the game is not good (Or I'm just bad...:( )

Overall, I see where they want to go for the competitive but currently it isn't there yet. Hopefully in the future Bethesda makes this game balanced and more fun.

Please leave a comment on what you liked or disliked about this review and I’ll use the feedback as criticism to improve my reviews.

Thank you.

Cuphead

Cuphead is a boss galore with the art style from the 1930's.

Positives:
  • The art style is fabulous and is probably the biggest draw in for the people who bought this game, the art only gets better and better as you go throughout the game.
  • The bosses are unique and have their own pattern which you must get used to in order to defeat the boss.
  • The game isn't very long but the sheer difficulty will have you playing for hours (Even on just one boss.)
  • The music is fantastic throughout, really making you have a little jam and sing along.
  • There are multiple weapons and abilities which are useful... There are certain weapons which are better against specific bosses as it will match how they act a lot better.
  • Parrying is a great way to build up power but to also not get hit off some of the projectiles from the bosses.
  • There is a simple and regular mode which are differentiated in diffculty, but you must complete all bosses on regular if you want to get to the end zone (For story purposes).
  • Once completed you will unlock a harder mode called 'Expert' which will truly determine how good you are at this game. I can safely say I can beat all of the bosses easily on regular, but when going into Expert mode, it's like you're starting the game again and you don't know what you have gotten yourself into.
  • There are other unlockable modes which will really challenge you as you have to do a specific task throughout to unlock... I'll leave you to it to find out what it is ;)
  • Co-op mode is fun and will get you to interact with others but you must both jump around on the
  • The shop is where you buy your upgrades for your weapons and abilities and the currency is coins which you can get throughout the world or you can collect them through the Run'n'Gun missions.
  • The mausoleums give a good challenge where you have to parry the ghosts and in the end you get a 'super' which have their own unique specialities.

Negatives:
  • When you use a super move and an enemies projectile is on you, it will instantly damage you once the super is over and gives you no immunity after using it, so it can be a hit or miss when you use it.
  • The sheer difficulty can put people off immediately, personally I like a challenge but some people do not.
  • The secret modes are done by going through specific levels and doing specific things but this can be extremely difficult and very frustrating.
  • In my play through, I used all of the abilities and my conclusion was that there is only a few that are useful and the others just aren't and this is disappointing as I though I could have different kinda play styles with each ability.
  • The game isn't long as mentioned previously which is unfortunate but the good thing is that it is very difficulty making it a longer game.

I would recommend this game to anyone as the price of the game is really cheap for what it is and it will be a great experience for you to have.
