I cannot recommend this game to anyone coming for a party based JRPG that the final fantasy name is synonymous with. If you are looking for an interactive movie/walking simulator ARPG this is the game for you.

My biggest gripes with the game is the gameplay. It is extremely shallow compared to almost every game it's trying to emulate (witcher 3, DMC 5) it has the basics of those 2 games but none of the deeper systems. Also the combat is constantly interrupted every 2 mob groups for a 15 second cutscene of characters walking.
I also despise the Eikon fights, which is unfortunate because that's some of the biggest positives for other people. These fights are fairly reminiscent of GoW 3 boss fights. Where you fight a small enemy, then have a giant QTE section to finish them off. I know the spectacle is nice, but it feels like I've played this game 10 years ago, and I have played a game recently called Armored Core VI that handled these giant spectacle fights without taking the control of the gameplay away from me.
My final and biggest offender for the gameplay being just disgustingly boring too me, is that there are 5 total items (all limited because thats what dragon age did or something), 0 status effects (no berserk, dizzy, sleep, etc.), 0 party members (yes technically there is a dog and 1 random npc follower that you will have, that you cannot equip items on, ask to do anything, or have them help you combo in your ARPG combat). I could go on but pretty much every single thing that was Final fantasy combat/magic systems has been removed for some witcher 3/dmc/dragon age inquistion mutation that isn't anywhere close to any of them.

One last thing before I end the review. If any other game had these insanely boring MMO-lite quests for side quests ( like take these three meals to these three people X2), and then added them to the literal main story line (every single quest to get a stupid seal that lets people know your in the cool kids club). They would be lambasted. I haven't seen quest design this abysmal since the last time I played RDR2. Go to point A talk to person, have a 15 second walking cutscene, kill mob group A, move to point B, 15 second cutscene, Kill mob group B, go back to Point A, talk to person again.

All in all I would suggest saving your money and just watching the cutscenes on youtube if you're a fan of the more party based FInal Fantasies. If you enjoy FF7R combat and FFXV combat this game might be manageable for you and a good pickup.

From Software has fixed a lot of the chugging issues except in the tree sentinel area.

Well I originally thought the game was good until as a german i started fighting Americans more often... The m1 garand does 5 less damage but has half the recoil that the german gweher 43 has making it so inbalanced the early game is atrocious.

Well this was a game I was originally excited about. Then when i got it I had realized that it was not as fast paced as past and the now future games in this series.

Cavalry is next to useless until your line infantry gets the enemy to shaken those are my only gripes...

I do feel like the building system makes more sense than Rome total war 2 and many others but it is confusing especially for newer people and if you skip the messages detailing if a new settlement comes up good luck finding it again.

Anyways, in general a good game but all in all this is a slower paced battle game get ready for 30-50 minute battles a lot and the auto-resolve tends to say your professional units will get beat by militia in a seige battle.

Would rate this game a good old 7/10
