Most definitely one of those games people will still be playing a decade from now. Fun story, good gameplay. Runs surprisingly smooth, except one time I got blown up when testing what a trap did, but that's not a very common occurrence.

Still not a fan of the luck-based checks for so many things. I understand it from a roleplay perspective, and as a tie to the game's roots in D&D, but in gameplay from a casual perspective it feels like it encourages save-scumming and can get pretty aggravating at times. Especially when no matter what your modifiers are, or how easy the roll is, there is a non-zero chance you'll still fail because the game decided to roll a one. On the flip-side, no matter how hard a roll is(barring any potential checks down the road that might have a difficulty of above 20, I haven't gotten too far in the game yet), there is a chance you'll still succeed because you got a lucky roll.

Do I think it hurts the game? No, not really. It's more a personal problem I have with luck-based anything in gaming due to my terrible luck. First check in the game to look at the weird tadpole pool in the first room, I got a nat 1. That is a perfect summation of my problem with it.

Other than that, it's a great game that I highly recommend.
