I haven't even noticed any messages, but I wasn't very active.

Has anything been vandalized or stolen?

If it was malware I would at least run Microsoft Defender Offline, Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner, maybe Hitman Pro as well.

A Windows reinstall would be even more secure.

Changing passwords (for all important accounts) is also advisable. And Steam Guard / 2FA should be on at all times.

I wish you all the best. Playing dr with you was quite some time ago, but it was a fun experience.
