Incredibly fun and very replayable, despite the semi repetitive game-play loop. Decent selection of SCP's to play, SCP 939 being my personal favourite.

It's completely free. You have no reason not to try this if you already have an interest in the SCP wiki.

The energy mechanic is way too punishing, and time moves too quickly. I am the type of guy that likes to take my time when it comes to games. This game forces you to get everything done within a restricted amount of time, which is really poor design.

One of my favourite games of all time, Terraria has the same issue, where once you reach hardmode, corruption/crimson/hallow spread is sped up, forcing you to defeat Plantera quickly to once again slow down the spread.

If it wasn't for this annoying mechanic, I would enjoy this game far more.

The lack of replay-ability and customisation really kills it for me. Everytime your character dies, or travels to a new world, you earn a certain amount of xp depending on how many days you survived. This xp contributes towards unlocking new characters. It's a real shame that they didn't incorporate a permanent upgrade feature, to not only make replays less tedious at the start, but also makes the game more rewarding.

My other real big issue is the lack of customisation, when it comes to creating a new world. The only real things you can customise is: how the map is layed out and it's size, seasons, weather events, and how many items and mobs can spawn in your world or be active. You don't have a lot of options when it comes to the customisation's either.

Due to these issues, early game can be incredibly frustrating and unfun to experience. I have nothing against difficult and punishing games, but there aren't many ways to offset the tediousness, other then knowledge and experience you gain, and mods. There's too much grind and too little reward for your efforts.
This game could also use a serious QOL update, considering there are a lot of frustrating mechanics and issues in the game.

This is all a massive shame, because the first few run-throughs I had were incredibly fun, and I love the art style of this game. I will be purchasing DST to play with some friends, and I feel the grindyness at least will be offset by the presence of other people.

Edit: After reading some of the negative reviews, it turns out that I am most definitely not the only person that has the same opinions on this game.

the mmr system is garbage and its way too grindy

Arguably one of the best survival games of all time, incredibly immersive, fun, and exciting game. It took me 46 hours to complete my first (and most likely only) playthrough, because I really wanted to soak in the atmosphere of the game, and I don't regret it. The story is also really well done, and is way more fleshed out then I thought it would be. Very satisfying ending.

It does come with its faults, but these are mainly negated due to the extreme positives. We didn't find out too much about the main character, nor was he really expanded upon as a character, which I wasn't a fan of. Looking forward to below zero though, because it looks they have put more of the focus on to the main character and her story.

would be one of the best shooters of all time if it wasn't riddled with exploiters. I spent 5 dollars on this game and I am going to refund it, that's how bad the exploiting is.

A incredibly simple, but fun and interesting sandbox "god" game which has so much potential. 'Story' took me about 10-11 hours to complete, the rest of the time I spent messing around.

This game could really flourish if it had workshop mode, because I am pretty sure the developer is not working on this game anymore, and has moved their focus onto another game project.

In it's current state, I do definitely recommend this game still, and it goes on sale for half price quite often.

incredibly glitchy, but also one of the best and most interesting survival games of all time. It's a game you will probably put a lot of time into, but it rewards you very well for your time and loyalty.

I unfortunately can not recommend this game anymore due to the greedy and corrupt publishers, Snail Games USA. Due to mismanagement with their money from the publisher themselves, they have found themselves in a large debt. They are attempting to push a remaster of Ark Survival Evolved as quickly as possible, due to loaning a large sum of cash from a prominent server hosting company Nitrado, which have placed a strict deadline for the release. The remaster will most likely be released in a heavily buggy or completely broken state, as long as they can release it before the deadline to avoid the consequences.

This video that I will list here, goes into further detail regarding the situation. I heavily recommend you avoid purchasing any products from Snail Games USA, in hopes that they will go under, and hopefully finally get their hands of ARK.
