Stellaris is by far my favorite game in my library. While there may be a decent amount of DLC, for the most part, they tend to have a whole lot of content.

If you don't want to buy DLC then don't worry Stellaris had a huge modding community. You can find everything from playable anime girls to giant death weapons that destroy entire planets.

Anomalies keep the early game interesting and provide some good some bad events and or buffs/debuffs. With the latest update and DLC, there are plenty more anomalies and you can no longer fail them.

Stellaris 2.0 changed how the game is played by allowing expansion of your borders without having to colonize a ton of planets by building Star Bases. (Yes I know Frontier Outposts Existed). Some people enjoy 2.0 (Me Included) and some people dislike it, I just assume they don't like change.

The new Marauders add more flavor to the Mid Game crises while not being so powerful that they ruin the game.

Paradox seems pretty consistent in big updates and bug fixes, and while bugs still exist they get fixed in a lot of updates. Paradox pretty consistently adds new features that are good quality of life updates, such as empire-wide food production similar to energy credits and minerals, and the Auto Explore on science ships.

While there are plenty of other things in game to keep you busy such as fallen empires, endgame events, those damned Fanatical Purifiers, and one of my favorite additions, Megastructures.

If you like sci-fi RTS games, look no further. Stellaris and all the workshop mods allow for hundreds of hours of playtime without getting bored. Not to mention it immediately either becomes a lot more fun or a lot more sweaty if you play with friends.

This game is a solid 9/10 for me.
