Crash Landing
He woke up in a jolt to the sound of sparking electricity. It was only when he was held back by straps that he calmed down momentarily to come to terms with what had just happened.

"****"

He unbuckled the safety straps of his FTLS as he got up, the majority of the seats around him were unsurprisingly still empty. Considering the kind of chaos that had occurred only moments prior.

He looked up momentarily, silently thanking the gods, before looking around the room properly. Or, what was left of it. The control room was in shambles, stations had been ripped from the hull itself, smashing into the barely holding walls before piling up onto other stations. As if the entire front of the control room had been assigned as the garbage dump for any and all objects not being the FTLS specifically.

That included the crew. What would've been near a hundred members, reduced to little more than ten. The remaining ten being the few fortunate enough to have strapped themselves into their FTLS before the collision.

He wasn't given much time however, as while he was the first on deck to wake up, his face snapped towards the door exiting the room as he heard someone pry it open.

"Jesus christ, Max, did that even knock you out?!" He said, instinctively knowing the mechanical whirring of the suit that was slowly but surely bending the door out of the way.

"Gonna need more than a black hole to bring me down!" the suit echo'd, in his endlessly cheerful, yet scruffy demeanor
"How are things in here? She survive?"

"Yeah, she's alive."
He looked over at a girl in one of the FTLS, her chest ever still rising and sinking as if in a peaceful slumber. When he turned back Max had broken the door down, and entered the room to tower over himself by a few feet.

"This looks like a garage sale gone wrong, what, you forget to bolt the things down?" Max chuckled, and he knew this was his attempt at trying to bring light to the situation. However, this wasn't the time for it, thus he stared back at Max sternly.
"Hey ALEXA!" Max roared, expecting his near deafening audio enhancement features to reach whomever he was calling to from anywhere in the ship.

And the ship responded. "Yes, Captain Mac'Kensies?" It was a feminine voice, though expectedly, severely grainy, soft, and apparently coming from another room.

The audio module must've broken down in this room, he thought to himself.
"Give me a body count!" Max sent back, in a much calmer voice this time.

"12.089 dead. 2.911 alive. 83 conscious." the ship responded matter-of-factly. It had no way of portraying panic, dread, or concern. And even then, when it continued, we'd realize that the body count is not the greatest of our concerns.
"Time of impact, estimated T-12 minutes."

"Wh-what?" he stammered, wondering both why it was mentioned, and what it meant.
"Time of impact, estimated T-12 minutes."
"No, I-.. Alexa, give me a brief overview of the ship's status."

"Shield emitter, destroyed. Main thrusters, destroyed. Side thrusters, all but starboard pivot destroyed. Reactor, critical condition. Hull integrity, lost pressure in sector A, B, D, E, G, J, and K."

"****.. That's the living quarters" he mentioned on the last bit as the ship continued, and Max uncomfortably rotated his shoulders.

"AMG, destroyed. All coilgun enarmaments, destroyed. All heavy phasers, destroyed. 7 medium phasers, destroyed. 24 CIWS emplacements, destroyed. All human input stations, destroyed." It paused, indicating the end of the damage report.

"Impact course, planet Earth, 112 Kilometers West of Washington. ETA-10 minutes to impact."

"Wait, EARTH?!" he shouted back, in genuine shock. How was there an exit point this close to earth, hadn't they just emerged from a black hole? How long were they out for? the questions began to pile up as the ship continued.

"Expected date: 4th of April, 2015."

"WHAT?!" now both he and Max shouted in unison.

"Expected terrain: Desert."

"THERE IS NO DESERT TO THE WEST OF WASHINGTON! THAT'S AN OCEAN!" he yelled in protest, well aware of the geological locations of his home planet.

"Vancouver island?" Max chimed in, more curious than shocked now.

"Negative. Unidentified new land mass West of Washington. Estimated width of 200 Kilometers. Estimated length of 1000 Kilometers trailing northbound the side of Canada."

"Okay.. Oookay.. Alright.. Max, make sure everyone's strapped in. Alexa, can you raise impact alarm?" he said, already walking over to once more strap himself into the FTLS.

"Yes, sir." Max saluted, before leaving the room with the loud metallic clunks of his armor.
"Negative. Power generation is at its limits."

"Great. Can you at least send an audio message to everyone?"
"Affirmative. Sending a message."
"Alert all personnel. Impeding crash landing, T-8 minutes. Please ensure you're strapped into an FTLS." the sip immediately after announced.

"I have a baaaad feeling about this.." he mumbled to himself, double checking the girl's FTLS before closing his eyes, and waiting for the inevitable.
