It's nice to finally see a game that is 100% tailored for its target audience (that being WH40k fans and fans of third-person action games) and is totally bereft of political nonsense, or any other modern day issues being stuffed in.

This is one of the few western-made games that I can actually immerse myself in and FORGET ABOUT THE REAL WORLD for a little while. That's why many of us turn to gaming, it's an escape, a way to wind down. But in recent years, developers became politically active and decided to push propaganda through their games. The result is garbage.

Taking the opposite approach leads to a wonderful gaming experience like Space Marine 2. Don't just take my word for it- look at the thousands of reviews. I don't think anyone who plays this game can honestly say "I don't like this", outside of the political weirdo crowd I mentioned; they are already complaining about this game's "toxic masculinity", which means it did a great job.

Early Access Review
Fantastic rogue-"lite" game, great timekiller. At the price of $2, you can't go wrong- hours and hours of fun to be had here.

If you are a Castlevania fan, you'll LOVE this! This game does not play like Castlevania (a sidescrolling, 2D adventure game), but rather a top-down bulletstorm kind of game where all of the weapons/powers are basically homages to the weapons from Castlevania.

There is a simple, but effective and rewarding, progression system for the roguelike elements.

My ONLY negative remark- A run can take 45 minutes (30 minute timer, plus 15 minutes for time spent in menus, bathroom breaks, etc.), and dying or quitting is the only way to stop. A "suspend" option would be nice, but this isn't a huge deal IMO since it's relatively short rounds.

EDIT 10/28/2023: Coming back over a year after release, the game is finally in a playable, rather stable state. The DLCs have been fun, and I'm always having fun when I'm playing. I said a lot harsh things in my first review, and I stand by them- the game shouldn't have been released in that state. We're customers, not bug testers.

This game clearly needed another year or longer in development. The build released to us as "1.0" is most certainly a beta, and all of us who pre-ordered or purchased are being used a unpaid beta testers.

Graphics look all cartoony, there is NO VIOLENCE, the fighting looks very derpy, units don't follow orders, pathing issues, the campaign is AWFUL, all of the factions have very limited rosters, and there is no replay value.

Currently, the only way to win the campaign is to literally camp. You capture like 2-3 provinces, and then just wait for the "souls race" to begin. You can only have 2 armies of 20 units at a time, based on the economy system. Your Legendary Lord's army will be in the "realm of chaos", off of the main map, for most of the mid-late campaign while your other stack desperately tries to defend your 2-3 provinces from infinitely spawning enemy stacks.

The difficulty in this game is absolutely artifical. The AI doesn't make clever decisions, the only reason the AI stands a chance is because of "anti-player bias"; essentially the AI is allowed to cheat like crazy. This is typical of TW games, but I'd expect by 2022 that AI would have somewhat improved.

A lot of folks complain about the settlement battles, they don't bother me too much. Autoresolve is broken still.

There is so much wrong with TW3, and that is why I believe it was released prematurely. I am not alone in this belief, just look at the other reviews. These are not "trolls" or "bots", these are angry customers who paid $60+ for a fundamentally broken product. CA even mentions in their roadmap that they want to make a "stable foundation". Perhaps a "stable foundation" should've been THE VERY FIRST THING YOU MADE WHEN DEVELOPING THIS GAME? Just a wild thought of mine.

I wish this didn't happen. I wish CA would've delayed the release. I would've been disappointed, sure- but I wouldn't have been burned like this. It would've shown some respect for the fans if CA just admitted "Sorry, but we are not satisfied with the state of the game, and we cannot in good conscience release it. Here is our new release date, we will keep the community informed." A statement like that would've gone a long, long way with fans. Yes, they would've complained about having to wait... but those complaints would've turned to praise if the game was complete when released.

Do not buy. Don't buy it when IE comes out, don't buy it when they add violence/blood. DO NOT REWARD THE SCUMMY PRACTICES OF "GAMES AS A SERVICE". I am guilty of pre-ordering this crap, simply because I believed "TW1 and TW2 are great, surely they'll knock it out of the park with the third installment now that they are very experienced!" I was duped.

Finally, I'm not sure if CA deserves all of the heat. I think the publisher (Sega?) deserves a lot of the blame. Publishers are often the hands that push games/movies/music out the door when it's not ready, ignoring the pleas of the artists that "No, it's not done, people will hate it and we'll have to fix it!" I feel bad for CA employees if that is the case.

I bought this game years ago. I reinstalled it recently because I saw that it had "released".

To my shock, THE GAME HAD BEEN STRIPPED OF DOZENS OF FEATURES and the only new things are "a giant version of the centipede enemy, and glowing spirit orb enemy". Oh, and a junkyard and forest level type. No other major changes... except....

The skill tree was butchered. Originally this game had a lot of appeal and replay value because character building was a thing: you couldn't be great at everything. You had to specialize at least a little bit. But now, you can't- if you reach max level, you have all talents.

THEY HAVE ALSO REMOVED SEVERAL GADGETS. These gadgets were often upgrades to the crappy scanning devices you start with access to- THEY ARTIFICIALLY LENGTHENED THE GAME BY MAKING GADGETS WEAKER, MEANING YOU HAVE TO SPEND MORE TIME POKING EVERY PIXEL TO SEARCH FOR SIGNS.

Two years in early access, and this might be the only time a game has become SMALLER and WORSE after a release. Unbelievable, DO NOT PURCHASE.

Incredible game, better than most "AAA" titles out today. Disgusting, amusing, always something new- this game set the standard for modern roguelikes, and this expansion is almost like an entire new game.

STOP READING THIS, BUY THE GAME, AND THANK ME LATER!

Incredible combat with one of the most fascinating and unique progression systems form the basis of this INCREDIBLE game. The integration of slowly increased power and seeing your own skill develop hand-in-hand is absolutely masterful. Voice acting, music, story, humor, beautiful stylized graphics- all of these things come together and deliver an addictive experience which is so enjoyable, I can't possibly imagine a person playing this game and not liking it.

I suppose it can be pretty challenging at times, but as long as that doesn't scare you... BUY THIS GAME!!

EDIT: So it's been a few months since my original review, when the game was still in pre-release. I put the game down for a while, and just came back... and I am absolutely blown away by the amount of polish added. The game was already fantastic in it's incomplete state, but now it has a brand new coat of paint, and I think there's even MORE content for me to explore.

In summary, this game only got better. Look at the reviews- currently, we are at 98% total positive, and 99% recent positive reviews. Normally this would be suspicious to me, BUT THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY WORTHY OF A 100% RATING, OR A FIVE STAR. I can't stress enough, BUY THIS GAME!!

Awful, unfinished, empty shell of a Dark Souls clone with absolutely zero character progression choices.

This game has about 8 hours worth of content- 12 if you really desperately need to find all of the useless cosmetic collectibles.

CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION: There is no character customization outside of cosmetics. There is no "character sheet" that has stats such as Strength or Dexterity- progression is limited to earning skill points via killing enemies or finding useless "secrets" scattered around the desolate, dead-feeling planets. The skill tree is so tiny, that it has to be restricted based on how far you are into the story. There are so few Force powers in this game- Force Slow, Push, Pull, and Jump. THAT'S IT. No mind tricks, no lightning, no healing, just the most basic crap we've seen over and over again.... and the application of those powers is drastically limited.

They aren't like The Force Unleashed, where you can use push/pull to interact with your environment to defeat enemies. They're more like GIMMICKS and the entire game can be completed without using Force powers in combat.

GEAR: There is none. Everything is purely cosmetic. You can't build a better light saber. You can't develop better armor. You can't add weapons to your droid. The color of your light saber means nothing.

As for characters, there are 4 good guys- the main character, and 3 people who stay on the ship for the entire game (except for one notable exception at the end which lasts about 20 seconds). They do nothing except spew exposition. There are two villains- one dies almost immediately, and the other is sort of like a female version of Kylo Ren who hounds you throughout the game. The final villain is Darth Vader. You, a Jedi PADAWAN with incomplete training, defeat him and escape from him.

The story is a retread of the story told TWICE already- there is a Holocron with a list of all of the Force Sensitive children in the galaxy. Empire wants it for EEEEVIL, your team wants it to rebuild the Jedi Order. If that sounds familiar, IT'S BECAUSE THIS STORY HAS BEEN TOLD TWICE- Jocasta Nu, the Jedi librarian woman, is depicted in two different stories (legends AND canon) searching for this Holocron, finding it, and basically the same thing happens with it as what happens in Fallen Order.

This is an embarrassing rush job, and the obscene praise that is being heaped upon it baffles me. You guys who rave about this game being good are sending devs a signal- "We will accept rushed, incomplete, mediocre trash at premium price." Stop it. Demand better. I shouldn't have fallen into the hype.

Note: You'll see I have 38 hours in game. This is the result of me leaving my game running as I was pulled away, several times. Total amount of actual play time would probably be around 13-14 hours for me.

MK:X has incredible potential. Although the PC port is a bit sloppy, I haven't experienced any of the bugs I see mentioned. However, after purchasing MK:X for $60 and all of the DLC for a total of about $100, expecting to drop another $30-40 on the "XL" version, only to be informed that MK:X on the PC is being dropped by the developers. According to most sources, there will be absolutely ZERO SUPPORT for the PC version from now onwards. Perhaps this would be acceptable if the price reflected the quality, but it does not. Honestly, I would give a thumbs up if it weren't for this blatant spit in the face of those of us who purchased this for PC. Never have I felt ROBBED by a gaming company until now.
