Beyond Light is a turning point in the Destiny franchise but not in a good way. What should have been a great addition to the world was completely undermined by incredibly backwards thinking of Bungie. Before the tirade i will say that Beyond Light in a vacuum is some of the best content that has be introduced to Destiny. Stasis is a fun addition to PvE that did change add to how players could play, the main campaign while generic was enjoyable, Europa is one of the best destinations in the game, and the lore added in this expansions was top tier. That is where all the good ends though.

Firstly was last years promise of a "renewed focus on PvP" that was delivered upon by giving us one of the most broken PvP sandboxes we've ever had. Stasis, and hunters in particular are way over tuned and the mechanic of freezing leads to some of the most frustrating gameplay that Destiny has seen.

Next is content vaulting, while understandable from a technical reason why it needed to be done it left the game an empty shell of what it once was. Previously once you had completed your weeklies you could go run a activity like the menagerie or forges to farm for some gear you were previously missing. Now after you sign in and complete the weekly activities all you have left to go do is play one of the worst PvP experiences the game has seen or run the same strikes we've been playing since day 1.

Lastly and to me the largest nail in the coffin is the asinine changes to loot and the rewards structure. One of the primary pillars of Destiny was and always has been how interesting the loot is so Bungie in their infinite wisdom decides the best thing to do is sunset 90% of it to take care of a few over tune outliers and artificially increase player time. What was once one of the best reasons to engage with the game is now just an insult to players time when the spend hours trying to get some good gear drops only to receive something that will be essentially worthless, in less than 6 months.

Overall I can't recommend this game or this DLC until Bungie decides to actually do something for the players and not to help pad out their pocket books by doing the bare minimum to sell DLC and artificially increase player time.
