Early Access Review
Want to buy this game?

Yes, only if:
  • Player Handle bugs from time to time
  • Isn't looking for a PUBG type of game
  • Doesn't freak out at losing their stuff
  • Player will yell through in-game mic to scare others (preferably "Here's Johny!")

Some More Details:
I was hesitant on buying this game at first since it's in EA but so far I have been lucky and the only issues I've had are graphic issues. This game is a lot of fun to play with friends and the in game chat is absolutely hilarious at times. In one game, my friend and I ran into a team that pretended to be cowboys that were yelling "YEEEEE HAAAAA". It's this sort of humor in a tense game that makes it an absolute blast to play. As far as losing your character if they die, it's apart of the balancing mechanics. I haven't been phased by this since the only way you can get better weapons is by leveling up your bloodline NOT the individual characters.

Fast Review

For you people just looking for a quick review... If you like games about exploring every last inch of a landscape (or in this case an entire planet) then this game is for you. It's absolutely huge and you can easily spend hours on just one planet. I saw another review saying that the creatures aren't hostile.... Please let me know where this amazing planet is because every planet I've gone to has at least 2 hostile creatures (more on this below). My favorite part of the game so far is learning the language on a planet. As you learn more of the words, you are able to fully understand an alien instead of just randomly picking an option and hoping you didn't just offer your first born son (apparently I'm betrothed now).

Would I say this game is worth $60? Most definitely not. Am I happy with my purchase? You better belive it!

In-Depth Review

Graphics
I was able to run the game perfectly fine right from the start. I was a little wary about how it would run when I take my first flight into space but it was still working great. Most of the resources (basically everything except carbon) have a unique shape and color to them that desitinguishes them from the rest. If you are unhappy about this.... I don't know what to tell you because you're not going to find a variety of shapes and colors of the same exact elements. Gold looks like Gold no matter where you go.

Interactions
So far I haven't pissed off an alien to the point where they want to kill me so that's a plus. At first it's a challenge to know what to select for the correct response to an alien but they did a great job at describing how the alien is acting. For example, an alien was asking you for resources and if you just read the speaking part you would have no idea what he/she was saying since you didn't know any of the words. But when you read the description of how this alien is acting, it would say that he/she looks desperate and is reaching out towards you. Now not every alien is going to ask you for resources. I've had all sorts of requests from fighting a war for them to marrying someone (I clearly didn't pay attention during that exchange). After the first interaction you can "pay" 20 carbon or so to talk to them again but then it gets repetitive. If you want to learn a language fast, you can just keep talking to the same alien over and over again and ask to learn new words. It's normally every other interaction you can select that option.

Creatures
Most are friendly and you can even feed them! If you feed a creature, sometimes they will find stuff for you but most of the time it's just a common resource. I haven't fed enough creatures to see if they lead you to something worth wild. By far the scariest experience I've had was when I was in a cave minding my own business and all of a sudden a bunch of evil crab like creatures start attacking me. They were everywhere and I had to run for my life back to my ship. Thankfully, you can stand on top of your ship to kill them off but then you have to be careful of the sentries who like to preserve every last blade of grass on a planet.

Sentries
Not really sure where they come from yet since I haven't made it that far in the story line (yes there is a sort of story line). The aliens don't like them and I've gathered some planets are at war with them. They don't like it when you destroy too much of a landscape or kill creatures so they will attack you. They are fairly easy to kill and at most I've had 3 attacking me.

Crafting
If you are looking to make something specifically, you can tag it while you are in your inventory and a notification box in the lower right will tell you how much of each resource you need to collect to make that item. At first I would agree with other reviewers that it's a pain to keep track of how many resources you need but as soon as I found that function, it made life a lot easier. Some of the items require you to buy things from the galatic market since they aren't resources but rather components.

Flying
I was curious of how seamless of a transition it would be going from running around to flying through space. Needless to say they did an amazing job. You jump in your ship, hold "W" to launch, aim to the sky, and next thing you know you are in space destroying space rocks. It takes a couple seconds to get used to the controls but once you get the hang of it, you can easily land to your next destination within a 5 seconds walk (won't let you land on top of a building).

Final Thoughts
I can see myself easily spending hours upon hours finding everything there is on each planet I visit. I like games like that so I enjoy that sort of thing but to someone looking for an action packed adventure through space, you won't find that here. As far as the overall content goes, this game is worth more around $35-40. This is what I think at initial release and they may add patches to create more story lines. I would love to see the possibility of creating guilds or something to that extent and having planets be claimed under that guild. If they add more for the community aspect then this game is easily worth the $60 asking price.
