I was skeptical about this game at first, seeing many negative reviews about the progression and the quality of play. After playing for more than 10 hours I can only recommend the game to fans of the first Dying Light. Although I will address the changes that I had trouble with at first.

CHANGES:
- Climbing and Parkour now uses stamina
-- Running out while climbing will drop you to the ground
- Combat ( in the beginning ) takes a lot more stamina and doesn't feel like you are as much of a zombie killing bad-ass as we are used to
- No sprinting without upgrading the parkour tree (character is in a weird jogging state permanently when moving normally)
- Immunity buns timer

Now, the parkour taking stamina was an interesting choice on behalf of Techland, but it adds more immersion to the game and transitions the player from being the Ultimate Parkour God into a person who has to grow and change and gets winded. I came to enjoy the stamina system later on as I upgraded the stamina and unlocked more parkour skills, it feels more and more fluid as the perks and upgraded stamina capacity flow together in a way that is nothing but satisfying. This does however take more than 2 hours to reach, so if you are just trying the product you will not enjoy the freerunning as much. The combat stamina system reminds me heavily of Dead Island and still to this point I am repeatedly running out of stamina during large fights. However the quality of weapons and the amount of mods drastically speeds up the ttk on zombies. Human combat still feels slightly janky and involves a lot of parrying vs. running and gunning so to speak. Through upgrading the health system and focusing on better weapons, the combat gradually gets more enjoyable and is even quite overpowered when multiplayer is introduced ( allows players to get around the stamina issue or human blocking issue) . The no sprinting option at the start was something that took awhile for me to get used to, although with significant parkour upgrades you do unlock a Dash and the ability to sprint at the cost of stamina. That being said the game doesn't require a sprint per say, with the umping upgrades allowing the player to clear most gaps without the need of sprint -- although there are jumps that are made significantly easier/only possible with the use of the dash upgrade. Finally the Immunity Timer is the only mechanic that I still have issues with. it limits the night/indoor exploration and requires a lot of immunity restoring items for any nighttime activities that take longer than 5 minutes. It seems as if the timer base should be longer to accomodate players that enjoy the night exploration more, but there is a wealth of boosters and IV shrooms around to help any players wanting to try their luck at night.
I do also want to address that the starting area is very similar in all respects and it is slightly hard to identify where you are exactly because of the similarities.

tl:dr The game has new mechanics that are weird/difficult to get used to, but doing so rewards the player with a new experience that isn't simply taken from the first game and reskinned. The story moves slowly at first and the starting area is very similar in respects to areas ( everywhere looks almost the same) .

8/10 would recommend, will get definitely $60 worth of entertainment out of the game

oh and is no one gonna talk about how the MC definitely has the same VC as Crane?? Just me????

bought in 2016, game has gotten worse with time. Not recommended. From too many monsters to not being able to hide from them in any regard, the hostile game play leaves a lot to be desired. On top of this you cannot mine resources without subsequently being swarmed by a million giant bugs. I have enjoyed less and less over the years
