I like this game. I really do. So I'll give ya the long and short of it.

SHORT:

-Not scary like, "BOO! Ha ha." This is Scary like "................*muffled growl*................................*cracked stick*.........."

-Hard. Really hard.

-Lots of fun

LONG:

-=This review is published Dec. 12, 2014. It has to do with the major update, Alpha 3.0, and the gameplay changes made.=-

Alpha 3.0 made it impossible to last more than 1 day without crawling everywhere and checking every square inch of land infront of you before allowing even a single foot fall. It's a perpetually white-nuckled crawl.

Alpha 2.9 had mushrooms randomly in the woods. If you stepped on one, you'd be poisoned. Those were annoying and occasionally fatal. But you could harvest them and not have to worry about stepping over it. That was too easy and leisurely. Alpha 3.0 places these mushrooms everywhere the light fails. It puts you on edge and forces your gaze forward, like reality (nobody walks in the wilds without checking the forest floor constantly)

-= CONTEXT NOTE: I previously reviewed this patch and complained about it. I gave it a negative review. Then I immediately started playing again. That should say something about the game and me. =-

The devs have contacted me. I feel special. Anyway, the way they read through comments shows that they really care about this game. Again I really do like it, but it got alot harder with the last update. I guess that just came as a shock to me. I was too used to strolling through the woods with my eyes crossed, swinging a board with nails at everything that moved, but... I can't anymore. I must meticulously scan all around me.... Looking for the next enemy.... the next trap.... the next pair of eyes searching my face for signs of confusion, just waiting for the right moment to knock me out with a 3 meter pole and leave me in the middle of nowhere missing my gear and possibly my virginity.

It's a horror game. Don't complain. 10/10

My experience with Terraria in Bullet Points.

-Started game
-Created god-awful looking, green-skinned monster with a mohawk
-Spawn in and said "Now what?"
-Killed slime. Thought "Wow I'm powerful"
-Killed zombie. Thought "Wow I'm powerful"
-Died
-Mined a bit
-Upgraded armor and sword
-Killed Eater of Worlds. Thought "Wow I'm powerful"

You can see where this is going...

120 hours later and I still haven't even come close to and endgame. With the 1.3 update coming soon, I can only hope to reach the aforementioned endgame before I reach 75 years old.
