i met him in a sauna outside Jefferson City one night. One of those weird 24-hour places. Asian ♥♥♥♥. Probably some sort of drug or rough trade happening out of the back. I knew from the moment I saw him he was enigmatic. Something about his energy was simultaneously alluring and alarming. He sat there, towel loosely draped around his waist, a sizable bulge beckoning from beneath it. he didn't say a word, he just looked me up and down once as if sizing me up and then resumed his solitary communion with the wood, as the steam pulled the weakness and pain out of our souls through the skin and released it into the grain and the drain. I felt a twinge of something inside of me, as if his ocular overlook had served to merely dispense and dispose of me. I was unworthy, of what I do not know and never will. I still think about that night, but now my accompanying sweat is colder than it was then. God help me.
