For the record, I don't actually have the game but used family share to play it for a couple of hours and I have to say, this game is absolutely adorable! While it could do with a bit more content, it is quite playable at the moment. Admittedly, I wasn't keen on it for the first 20 minutes because I went in thinking it was an economic-type game, but it's more of a "hurry and feed the animals before the day ends and then build up your zoo with your money" game. The more I played, the more I liked it though because the quests and the needing to complete my zoo kept me busy, not to mention the achievements . ^_^

All in all, it's weird that I find this game relaxing but at the same time, hectic during the feeding frenzy which thankfully is pretty easy at the moment given you purchase auto feeders pretty early on.

The only cons are the way the character slides when she walks and the lack of content. But the developer(s?) is/are adamant on growing this game so I can't wait to see what comes next! =D

TLDR; Really wish there was a middle of the ground thumb because this game has so many factors that can appeal or not appeal to different kinds of players. While it seems a bit overpriced at first, the hours put into it are in my opinion slightly worth it. Granted, half of those hours are frustrations with controls and/or griefers on board, but the immense satisfaction when completing a mission is just too good! ^_^ This game is great for hardcore players. The overwhelmingness of it all could probably turn off casual players like me, but if you like heavy communication games such as Deep Rock Galactic or Star Trek Bridge Crew and you like managing things or being part of the wheel, this game is right up your alley. =D
-----------------------------------------------

You can choose between:
Captain - steers the ship, gives orders, access to everything and generally can play every role.
Medic - the doc
Security Officer - primarily looks out for enemies. Whether they be aliens aboard the ship, traitors, or griefers on a server.
Mechanic - repairs everything with quickness and ease.
Engineer - responsible for energy distribution among the ship. junction boxes, nuclear reactor, wiring.

Every role can actually do every job. There are set skill points and you'll level up your skills as you do things around the ship. Such as Engineer fixing things with a plasma cutter. While it is the mechanic's job to fix things, everyone can fix things as well if mechanics are too far away. Keep it in mind though, that it won't be as fast AND you could take damage from the tools you are using.
A mechanic can do a doctor's job if need be, but his rough estimate of a cure he recommends could be totally off and end up doing damage or worse, killing the person!

Multiple roles can be set. Depending on the server, up to 100 people can join. 10-20 is the usual number.
-----------------------------------

It's a fun heavily team-based game. You can customize the submarines, missions, play campaign with others or single player although single player is a bit more difficult in the sense that AI gets rather buggy at times.
Very difficult but very fun and mission completions are super satisfying.

The cons are:
Servers. Requires port forwarding to start up a server. UI is a bit unintuitive (at least for me) when it comes to multiplayer lobbies
Griefers. There are tons of them but some discord channels are set up for really good private teams. =D
Difficulty. It's a VERY hard game. Personally, because of the fun factor, I actually don't mind it being quite difficult. Missions are doable with the right people and/or competent AI which means you need a competent ship. You can build your own ships (not UI friendly. Very difficult to build because it requires some knowledge of programming for the wiring. Xor, And, etc.. Logic Gates. I haven't even touched it because of the complexity of it.) but there are many custom ships in the steam workshop. Some ships are not built for AI use such as doors not automatically opening. Depending on how the ship is built, some doors are locked and can only be opened by a required role.

Overall, I do recommend this game because of the amount of hours you'd put into it. However, it's most likely those hours will be of frustration and if you can't learn how to die without having fun while at the same time getting better and learning how the game's mechanics work, then maybe this isn't the game for you.

An isometric view of Monaco with characters from Armello is what I think of when playing this game. However, it has much more charm and is palm sweating, heart-beatingly, exciting.

I'm unsure as to how the difficulty scales or if there are different maps or even specific map layouts but the maps I've played are certainly doable. Some were sort of "challenging" in the sense of more security, more running about and getting things in a specific order, while others were pieces of cake.
The "challenging" aspect is trying to get used to the controls. As a hacker, switching directions mid travel can get rather difficult and moving as a stealth agent can get wonky, not to mention you need to be somewhat precise when disabling the scanner. Whether this is on purpose or not is trivial seeing as how it certainly doesn't make it unplayable (lest you have lag which I'll get into later). It's fairly simple to get used to and by your second/third playthrough, you should know exactly how to move and exactly what position you need to be in when disabling mechanisms.

Next comes the strategy. Once you figure out that the hacker is actually a scout, games should be quite simple to complete. (I completed a solo run and although playing as both hacker and stealth agent is much much more difficult because there's more to manage and more awareness to be had, it is the only mode where I've obtained anything higher than a D.)

Finally, the other challenging aspects are the lag and/or finding someone to play with. I've lost a few games because of the other person lagging. Now, I'm uncertain as to whether this lag is on the other player's end (pretty sure) or from the actual game itself but sometimes it does make for a frustrating experience.

On another note, the fact that it has light character customization, unlockables and holds Solo player mode is fantastic, albeit, the split screen drives me up the wall. Then again, I wouldn't know where to begin on fixing that because it seems like any sort of solution would just break it gameplay wise. Alternating full screen for either of them would just block vision. I was contemplating a minimap would suffice with notifications that your partner is nearing getting caught by a security guard/virus but that might be a bit of work for the devs to handle when they've got so much on their plate already.

With all that said and done, the easy minigames, the easy puzzles, the running away and sneaking around makes for a fantastic experience in Hacktag and a definite recommend from me.

TLDR;

Pros:
- Visually pleasing, graphics are adorable! Who doesn't love animals? <3
- Sound is coolbeans. (Audio sliders for the win!)
- Character customization!
- Unlockable skills and skins via lootboxes and xp
- So much intensity when being jailed that it's actually kind of fun getting caught. LOL
- Mission dialogue ensues hilarity.
- Not forced Multiplayer!

Cons:
- Controls can be finiky (at first!)
- Some lag issues during game which can result in point losses (although could possibly be from other person's end)
- Can't see what the other person's screen looks like (which I believe could help in missions where there is lackof communication)
- Premade chat sentences/No voice chat (it's a small team so that can definitely be looked over especially when we have discord/teamspeak and other forms of comms out there.)
- Split screen (that may be a personal preference. I can't stand split screen in anything.)

Edit: Grammatical errors and totally forgot to include the gameplay videos that DGA and I made. D'oh!

Received a steam key for Dead Exit from DadsGamingAddiction after his gameplay video and I gotta say, Well done devs! Well done indeed!.

TLDR; Worth it.
----------------------

A thoughtful, strategic card game that I've enjoyed and am sure others will as well. This game has provided plenty of hours of fun and will most definitely provide even more, especially if you're a completionist and you're the type to strive for achievements.

I've still yet figured out a strategy for Impossible mode, (and admittedly have pulled out many hairs along the way), although trying to come up with working combos from the cards you were dealt with is quite enjoyable! The deck in your hand, city and discard pile are constantly changing via your choices and/or RNG so having a specific set way of beating the other modes doesn't always apply.

Sound is great and non-intrusive. (Yay for music and sound effect sliders for those that enjoy that sort of thing.)
Graphics are fine. Especially now that text is easier to read. (Still has the grungy effect which is really cool.)
Devs are pretty quick to respond!

Thumbs up, 5 stars, Likes/loves/happy emoticons everywhere!

I don't always sacrifice my cards but when I do, it's in a Blaze of Glory set in Spartaaa!
