Fun breakout style game that is considerably more interesting than breakout, that might not be a visual masterpiece but is pleasantly addicting anyway. Missile spam might be a bit OP but otherwise the game's challenging enough and throws a lot of different stuff at you. Also, it doesn't make you start over from the beginning if you lose.

I did have the game crash after beating the game and a bunch of levels in endless mode beyond that.

Good fun for a few hours, I got it for free but it's generally low-priced anyway and the time & mental investment is minuscule, so give it a shot!

Giving this a mostly neutral rating. One of those games that's worth buying when deeply discounted. Biggest positives are the unique retro art style and quality story writing (though short!). Being able to explore freely is nice, too, though there's not a whole lot of variety at the star ports in each system (news is generally the same, shop items are mostly the same and rather limited). There are multiple difficulty settings, which is good because by default the game is rather easy. Combat isn't very dynamic and controls are a bit clunky. Sound effects aren't great but do match the art style, while the music is ok but doesn't match the aesthetic as much. The game is largely bug-free but there is a nasty bug that screws everything up most of the time if you try to load a saved game after dying, requiring restarting the game to fix. One final nitpick, it took a few tries to figure out how to approach the last major encounter, so it would've been nice to not have to fly so far from the last save point each time.

I might recommend this game on a deep discount, but not otherwise.

It is a fast-paced, bite-size area control game. It's shiny but thematically a bit bland. There's a reasonable variety of maps (also including a random option). The AI opponents seemed fairly challenging even on easy difficulty. Good for a few hours of a reasonably fun challenge. There is also a tutorial to get you started, which is presented well.

I didn't notice any bugs though I didn't try playing multiplayer.

Things keeping this review negative:
-Some planets and moons have names belonging to Star Wars and other IPs. Obviously without permission.
-There are a number of spelling and grammar errors.
-Match settings are not persistent and need to be re-entered whenever setting up a new match. Since matches are quick, this is more of a nuisance than it would be otherwise.
-There is an upgrade/buff system implemented in the game but it is too fiddly to really use effectively; due to the fast-paced nature of the game it needs to be presented in a quick-to-understand, quick-to-use manner. It currently is not.
-It's a bit hard to see the map as a whole to quickly see what threats are where. It would be good to be able to zoom the view out further, but without shrinking the GUI.

Don't let the title graphics scare you away, this is actually a really solid city builder/wave defense game that's easy to sink time into. As a city builder it's essentially an Anno game with Stronghold's economy and Kingdoms & Castles' aesthetics. As a base defense game it's a RTS-RPG mashup where you can control hero characters in 3rd person. Everything seems balanced reasonably well. Really the only negative is that it crashes occasionally.

The $1 price point is fitting for this game, particularly since it looks like it won't be developed any further.

Extremely simple RTS, but it does an ok job of it. Looks like more effort was put into the map editor than the game itself though. Matches go fairly quickly, which is good since there's no option to save games.

There are some other limitations too; the tutorial was presented in an extremely basic fashion, matches only support 2 players, AI seems ok sometimes but other times not (seemed to struggle with islands), and workers are less intelligent than average, particularly when told to build multiple buildings. Also the extremely simplified graphics make it a bit hard to tell what is going on during battles, and loading and unloading rafts is pretty clunky.

The music is not original but credit is given, and it's fine except I was a bit surprised that there was a rendition of "we 3 kings" in the mix.

Early Access Review
I'll get the negatives out of the way first.
-It requires a rather beefy computer to run so it probably isn't well optimized; my geforce 650 is chugging a bit.
-Weapon balance might be a little off. Rockets and shotgun feel a bit weaker than the other weapons.
-First few levels feel a bit sparse, should maybe have higher enemy density.

Now the positives:
-Good tutorial but controls are very intuitive anyway
-Gameplay feels good, easy to get into
-Cohesive graphics
-Good music and sound
-Lots of options for skill level
-Hidden areas
-Level editor (though I've not looked at it yet)
-Free so why not?

When I saw a counter for 0/30 shinies when the game began, I worried at first that the game would be over after finding them. Fortunately no, there's more than one level. One hour in, I've made it to the 2nd level and the difficulty is picking up a bit more, so I think its safe to say at this point that the game has sufficient length. So far the difficulty scaling seems good enough. Quite easy in the beginning though, which added to my worries about a short game.

The atmosphere is good as advertised, the music matches it well, and movement is fluid and polished, other than one point in the second level where the character began to stutter a bit, but loading the last checkpoint fixed it. Checkpoints, by the way, are of a comfy quantity, and the game's pacing seems fine. I've not encountered any bugs.

The plot is minimal: all show, no tell, but I think that's a good thing for this game.

The game's silhouetted minimalism mostly works well, except that particularly in the beginning I think it made some of the puzzles easier simply because of the reduced amount of visual information to absorb.

Overall, I definitely recommend; this game is what it looks like it is. Though, I'm not done playing so if there's a major plot twist at some point I don't know about it yet.

It worked for me; no error. Launched about 2 hours after it became available.

Also, confirmed the new content is indeed there. The new region and transition zone are not on the map for choosing where to start but they do exist; I went on a brief Voyageur exploratory mission to confirm this, though, full disclosure, I didn't go as far as the new region.

Did not happen to notice any does yet, though, either in Pleasant Valley (where my new "real" run began) or in Broken Railroad or the transition region.

Smidge, Fluff, & Noggin...my favorite original Worms worm names (from the pc demo), much better than Boggy B. Boggy B is overrated.

Overall, the original Worms isn't noticeably less cool than later versions, except I guess no superweapons and limited jumping ability and some other things. So maybe actually it is less cool. But not much.
