This is my favorite 4X game. I play this genre a lot, and this is one of the first games where every faction's traits felt like they track you strongly into a specific play style, which makes every run with a new faction way more interesting than switching nations in other games. The game has a decent amount of DLC that is definitly worth it, but only one person in your group needs to own everything. I'm the whale in my group, and my recommendation would just be to watch for sales.

Great fun and now even more enjoyable with online multiplayer. silly and enjoyable story with an interesting and colorful cast of characters.

A great army management game. My only issue is frame rate drops, but every other part of the game runs well.
