Colony Prospector is perfect for anyone who wants something to do but doesn't have much time! You can pick up the game, dive right in, and go when you need to.. I wasn't so absorbed into the game that I couldn't walk away. You'll be killin time before you know it!

Gameplay
You're the pilot of a colony space vessel and it's your job to colonize as many planets as you can. You will constantly warp from planet to planet in search of desireable conditions to start new colonies. Planets present variable challenges for your colony. Planets may range from Plutonian to Venusian temperature, Super Gravity to little gravity, variable amounts of food, water, and resources as well as challenges, and other little goodies. When a colony is successfully established, after 50 years of hypersleep, you'll be rewarded with obtanium (the main currrency).

Obtanium can be used to purchase prospecting rights, different gas elements for crafting, items to improve planetary living conditions, and more. Eventually, you'll unlock the advanced colony pods providing unique rewards other than Obtanium. Each advanced colony type also offers unique trading opportunities.

I'm not sure if an end-game is possible considering alien colonies are in the tens of thousands or more.

Sounds
I'm not a fan of the sound effects, maybe because there's only 10 different effects to listen to but the music is pretty cool. I found that the music seems to change a little too often.. everytime you warp from planet to planet the song changes. The space themed music fits this game perfectly and it's not bad even if it's repetitive.

Aesthetics
Visually, the planets are the best part. All of the planets are very colorful and easy on the eyes, they're also cool to look at because everything else is basically empty space. The inside area of the spaceship is ok and it helps to choose a nicer design once you've unlocked a few. I don't really care so much for the planet sectors because the artwork seems like only half of it is there. There's an image of small rocks that'll appear from time to time and it just feels empty.

Things that bug me
Once I got into a rythem of successfully building colonies, I found that I had no need to craft most of the things in the game. I could just buy what I needed because it seemed cheaper to buy everything. Once in a while I'd need to craft crucial blueprints to advance, but that's it.

There's a dozen or so bugs in the game that kinda ruins the experience.. Nutti-Meals needs to be looked at again AND it uses an Atmospheric MK3 when it shouldn't.. that's a costly loss. Hacking Language #V needs a look at too. Some of these items use other items when they shouldn't or they don't use any item at all but still award the intended effect.

Planets with "Crushing Gravity" need to go a little easier on the Prison Colonies. I spent maybe 4 hours trying to make 1 Prison Colony survive and these planets don't appear often enough to let a 95% survival rate die..

Constructing the Groshvwi Colony let's me construct an AI Colony too and vice versa. That threw me off for hours as I tried searching for any materials to reconstruct these colonies. Once those materials are used, they don't show as a craftable option anymore.

The colony deathbomb weapon randomly appeared somewhere in a colony and I'm not sure why or how.. it appeared after I flew to a bookmarked colony. It also doesn't reduce qty after use.

And when I'm searching with the surveyor drones there's a "flavor text" that reveals a mineral vein with gold. The colony should also produce gold if this happens. JUST SAYING..

Overall
Colony Prospector is a decent little game. There's some areas of the game needing immediate attention but it's not pointlessly game-breaking. I'd say the game is worth the $5 price tag but if it's on sale for less, snatch it up if you're the type who enjoys repetition in space.

I encourage the DLC policy though I think there are several elements that should be integrated into the base game. Without the DLC policy we wouldn't have numerous updates, tests, and advancements made to our game. I'd much rather see EU4 develop into an even grander strategy game instead of paying $40-$60 for a whole new EU5 with only 20% of the content of EU4 and waiting a year for 1 DLC.

All of you dumb-asses out there need to grow up. Firaxis releases their new games with a small fraction of the content of it's predecessor but gets ignorant praise when buying less for more. Paradox remedies that pandemic and people hate them for it?

I support the DLC policy.

I delete my reviews to give it another thumbs down every so often.

Legitimately feel like this company is paying people to give it upvotes so they stay "mostly positive". This store page is infested with scores. "9 out of 10" - Gamestop in the picture at the top right... like come on, they give the same score for everything. Metacritic hiding down on the right giving an "88" like there's no way you played this game more than 5 hours, don't BS the people of the world. Scroll down to "Reviews" like serious just slapped 3 random reviews down there with zero description. IT'S ALL FALSE BS. They're advertising the hell out of it to deceive you.

Note: I've been eagerly waiting 10 months for enough reviews to drop it lower than 70% and it's been sitting there for a really long time.
Second Note: I've been eagerly waiting 10 months for enough improvements to try to give it a second chance.

I've been around all 6 generations of Civilization (even Civ on SNES and Civ 2 for PlayStation)... and there's no way anyone with this much dedication to the series could enjoy this. There's nothing in this version that isn't already available in a previous version (Districts aren't impressive since it's copied anyway).

If you want to spend money on this.. go to a hardware store first and buy the biggest tool you can carry, go home, and smash your computer. You don't need to thank me from saving you. Civ 3 is like $5, go buy your whole family 12 copies for the same price. You'll get more.. and a better experience..

DayZ is a zombie apocalypse horror survival strategy, which includes all the things I love in a great game. With this in mind, if you're not into running for long periods of time or people coming out of nowhere and blasting your brains on the sidewalk, this is no game for you!

Positives:
-Wide variety of items and weapons
-Map is massive (Takes at least 2 mins or greater to run between towns)
-Easy to learn
-Variety of ailments
-Plenty of drops
-Many servers (Some empty / some full)

Neutral:
-Finally found a pistol (2 weeks later - still have not found the ammo for that type of pistol)
-Log into a server with 2 people on it / all players are within 40 feet of each other

Negatives:
-Server restarts sometimes wipe your character
-Switching to a different server sometimes wipes your character
-Having a fracture or feeling "cold" sometimes wipes your character
-Having done absolutely nothing sometimes wipes your character
-Zombie attacks you but misses (Game lags and everything you're carrying is ruined by multiple zombie smacks)
-Almost guaranteed you need a group to play this game

I'm new to DayZ and I believe this game could be extraordinary. I love having variety in my games and it adds to it's replayability. I love being able to play however I want and go where I want or when I want. The expansiveness of this game is literally massive with very few limiatations. If the game worked like it should, I'd love playing the game. Since I began 3 weeks ago, I've lost my character more times to server restarts or bad servers wiping my character than I have killed in PVP.

I'm writing this review because of my last game. The last game I played, I had kept my character alive for a week by avoiding everyone, playing less active servers (Quitting servers when there's a large influx of people) and by playing servers at night (Where you can't be seen as easily). I had exited my last game in the middle of the woods outside a nearby town. I wasn't shot (Nobody was near me) and I was not under attack by a zombie. I had full health/no hunger/no thirst/no cold/no leg pain/1 rifle/2 pistols/Character decked out in camo. The next server I chose instantly wiped my character.

DayZ is in Alpha version (Seems like it's been in Alpha for years) and I've had too many problems with the functionality of saving my character. I can't run half way across Chernoybl without losing my character. I see people running around with all the best stuff and I can't even acquire half of what they have. So far I've wasted my money so I'm going to wait until the game gets fixed and give it a second try.
