Starfield isn't really the best game ever made. The graphics are pretty bad and the NPCs are ugly, but that doesn't mean the game isn't fun. The shooting is tight and satisfying, controlling and exploring your ship never gets old, and the quests are the best Bethesda have made since Oblivion. It is far from perfect, but it is a nice step up from the likes of Fallout 4 and 76.

And as for the loading screens, keep in mind that this game and every other BGS RPG needs to constantly save the locations of the NPCs and items that are strewn about. You can't have no loading screens and have the game constantly remember the location of every item you have dropped and moved AND where the NPCs have moved to at any given point. Personally, I would rather keep those features at the expense of having loading screens that only take a couple of seconds.

Early Access Review
This game has so much potential. The first few trials you play are genuniely terrifying, far scarier than previous games in the franchise, but unfortunately its just the same thing over and over again, and the game quickly loses its horror and just becomes annoying.

There are three trials you have to get through before you get to the big final one. Each of these trials have 5 missions. 3 of these 5 missions are the exact same but with some modifiers. The other 2 are called "MK Ultra Challenges". These give you new objectives to complete and are actually pretty fun.

Now even though there are 3 programs, there are only two main enemies. One only shows up for the first program, the other shows up for the final two. Both of them get annoying real quickly. The same annoying lines repeated for verbatim, and in the case for a specific one, "Mother Gooseberry", her screams become absolutely infuriating and just begin to piss you off.

So, you make your way through the game, completing each of these three programs. You'll likely go from being scared of the game to just being bored and annoyed, because you're just doing the same thing again and again except with some extra modifiers that just make these missions more tedious. After doing all of this, it is time for Program X.

Program X is the big kahuna. 10 trials, each providing you with a release token upon completion. You need 10 of these tokens to finally leave and beat the game. I haven't reached Program X personally yet, I am only one mission away, but I did play it a little bit, and it is the reason why I am just done with this game. Program X is just all of the crap you had been doing before recycled one final time. Thats it. Just the same old ♥♥♥♥ recycled and made even harder.

This game needs a lot of work before it will be worth its price. This game should be a 10 or 15 dollar game, not 30. If you can get it when it's on sale, then by all means, do so. It is a whole lot of fun for the first few trials you play, especially if you have a friend, but sadly that fun will fade really quick, and all you'll have left is an annoying and boring slog.
