This game is really good on a foundational level and numerous great design decisions within the characters and mechanics, but a major issue with this game is how the connections are handled. This is the only fighting game that uses dedicated servers to connect the players through and that is a terrible idea for many reasons. If the servers are unstable on a certain day (unstable everyday since beta launch), then you will have extremely wild scenarios where the game's netcode doesn't know how to handle the lag. Everyone in a lobby can have the most perfect ethernet connection and the game will still lag due to server instability. There needs to be drastic changes to the networking of the game for launch because I would say this game has the worst rollback I've ever experienced.

Massive botting issue, and RMT plague. The sheer amount of RMT going on is ridiculous as players put a giant red flag on their character with a +25 weapon and full best in slot gems, both of these adds up to about ten million gold. The game itself limits the spending of whales just so they cannot have the best possible gear within days so people resort to the gold farming bots and get millions of gold for cheap. In return, the economy for many items are extremely inflated and infuriating to grind out. In addition to the inflated economy, there will be days where the queue times are going to be long because there are way more bots than actual players. If you didn't start at the launch of the game, you are not going to have a good time.

One of the best character designs in the game in both gameplay and visuals. Highly recommend for newer players since she's the one DLC that's accessible from a difficulty standpoint, has a godlike neutral game that can teach you fighting game fundamentals if you're not familiar, and most importantly, she's insanely fun. You will not regret the $7 purchase at all

The netcode is truly awful on this game. Genuinely anti-fun trying learn the game in low rank because a great deal of people are playing on WiFi (mostly PS4 players), making you drop many inputs. The game can matchmake for "4-5 bar" connections but constant slowdowns will still be there. SFVI is doomed if it doesn't receive proper rollback netcode.

Based on core gameplay design, Halo Infinite is absolutely fantastic. The amount of possibilities that are present within the game's weapon and movement sandbox is immense which is key within a Halo title. Even though the gameplay is fantastic, (I would personally say the best out of any Halo game by far) there are massive issues are embedded with the netcode, anti-cheat, ranking system, progression, micro-transactions, and content size.

Starting off with netcode and anti-cheat, I'm a highly competitive person and have played multiple titles at a high level of play within ranked, but this game has by far the worst netcode I have ever seen within a triple A release. You will constantly be shot through walls even on native servers (Lowest pings being 18-20 usually), and your melees will not register a great deal of the time. Anti-cheat or lack there of is absolutely terrible. I've peaked at the top 0.1% of the crossplay ranked playlist and I've found a cheater every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ day, and to make matters worse, the cheaters can change their gamertags ingame to impersonate others. The ranking system OH MAN is the worst ranking system I have ever seen in my life. The ranking system is based on performance over win/loss, but the performance is ONLY based on kills not objective play. So if you wanted to be top 200, (Champion rank in Halo 5) you would have to forget objective play and bait your teammates for kills. People who play objective so that they could increase their chances of winning will rank DOWN. These three aspects makes me not want to play matchmaking at ALL, it's simply a major inconvenience to play.

Next issues that don't affect me nearly as much as others but I still consider them in the whole package are the progression systems, micro-transactions, and the overall content size. The progression is a wet fart in this game, there's no account leveling or a decently sized armor unlocking system, it's all just battle pass where most items are paid only. It also doesn't help that the battle pass itself is lacking so much armor content so paid players feel robbed of the old school Halo Reach armors that everyone loved. Speaking of Halo Reach armor, many of the Halo Reach sets are locked behind $20 bundles in the shop. The other week, the HAZOP set was a $20 bundle........... WHO THE ♥♥♥♥ WANTS TO DROP $20 FOR SOME CORPORAL LEVEL ARMOR FROM REACH????????? On top of this, 343i have also sold the colors red and blue within the shop for $5-10 which is concerning. Lastly, the content size is a major issue for casual players who want to keep playing Halo. There are many modes missing from the whole package, listing them would include modes like: King of the Hill, Assault, Infection, Grifball, Firefight, Forge, etc... Currently, the game has Team Slayer, FFA, SWAT, Fiesta Slayer, CTF, Oddball, One Flag CTF, Strongholds, and two new modes for Big Team Battle (Stockpile and Total Control). These amount of modes are just not ENOUGH to retain players in the long run.

Conclusion: I will always think the gameplay in Infinite is fantastic when it functions the way it should, it's some of the most fun I had in a very long time for a multiplayer FPS game. But the plaguing issues surrounding the game are too major to ignore for both competitive and casual players. You could always give this game a try since it is a free to play title but I would not recommend getting attached to the game as it stands right now.
