This game has come leaps and bounds since my first (negative) review. It is a fun shooter, that is even more fun when playing with others. Unfortunately for many, they have to pair with random other players. It is definitley preferential and beneficial when you can load into a duo or squad lobby with people you are friends with.

The issues you will likely run into if you don't have friends as teammates are as follows:

Player/s will not have a microphone or have chat muted and thus cannot hear call outs for directions of enemies, desired movement plans, or gear call outs. THIS IS A HUGE DISADVANTAGE.

Players will not be matched in skill level since so far there is no skill based matchmaking in this game, so you may end up with someone who makes so many rookie FPS mistakes that it seems they are entirely new to shooters that aren't point and spray.


---Problems/ things I would recommend to be changed to the devs.

The BIGGEST problem right now is that the servers aren't region locked. This results in you getting a bunch of teammates that do NOT speak your language, typically they are asian in origin and speak no english. They also play drastically different compared to North American players and European players, down to their basic tactics and decisions, they have a VERY different playstyle which usually does not pair well.

Unable to cancel a reload like you can cancel a heal. An example of when you would need this is if you are prone and then realise you are under imminent threat and need to rotate on your cover. When prone and reloading, you are completely unable to move and unable to cancel, and are at the mercy of your enemy and the time it takes to reload.

Bandages taking up a massive amount of space in Inv. considering how little they do for your health regeneration.

I and many like-minded daily players would love it if there were a change to the level 2 kevlar helmets. Specifically that with Kar98 rifle which shoots the same size round as the AKM is a 1 hit headshot kill when the player is wearing a full health lvl 2 helmet. I would recommend that at the least, the lvl 2 helmet should richocet a round off of it and only take some damage. If it is a square and centered hit on the helmet that is different, but if it is off the top or sides, the round should richocet off and just be a graze, as this is EXACTLY what the real life Kevlar helmet is designed to do.

Very fun game, not to hard to learn, and it passes time like lightning. You wont realize how much time youve spent

I'm new to the concept of alphas, but my buddy introduced me to them thru steam, and it has been a neat experience. & days to die has a lot of open world/ sandbox elements that make it a lot of fun. My complaints so far are that claim blocks don't seem to actually do anything. Theres no introduction on how to do things, no instructions on what everything does. Theres no seeming way to control where you spawn after you die, so you are left emptyhanded hundreds of miles away from your friends in a barren desert or forrest. Its neat in the aspect of being able to create things from nothing, like a crossbow from grass, rocks, feathers and sticks, but those are the kinds of things that it takes time to figure out how to make. In the "crafting" menu's, it shows you a extremely darkened picture of the resource needed, without telling you what the resource is, so you just have to hope you stumble across something that catches your eye and reminds you of the tiny darkened picture. Its a fun game for a lot of reasons, it's very customizable gameplay so far, but it is in desperate need of in game instructions or hints. One other complaint, multiplayer as far as finding and interacting with other players other than pre planned rendevous with a buddy you are working with is non exhistent, and lags you out around other players often, freezing everything and requiring a reboot. That HAS gotten better though, not nearly as much now as before.

So basically, yes i recommend this game, it still has work to be done, which is expected since its an Alpha. It's faults don't detract enough from the game to the point where you arent still curious and enjoying it. It can be frustrating feeling lost on what to do from time to time, but everyone thinks differently, it may make a lot more sense to you. Either way, Id recommend it. It has a bright future if it keeps getting better.
