I know it's obvious at this point; this game is so amazing (review checklist @ bottom). This game and Larian are a shining beacon in the slog of video game developers being crammed into an impossible situation to make as much money as fast as possible. You can still put heart and soul into a game and it will do amazingly well (deservedly so!).

I was excited for this game after playing Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2, which are both amazing games as well. I never played the first 2 Baldur's Gate games but I knew this one would rock our worlds and boy did it!

Every aspect of this game is so well done and immerses you fully. It brought me back to the old Bioware days of Dragon age and Mass effect in terms of story, but this is done even better than that by a massive margin! The writing for the companions and their stories are all written so well. With all the different origin stories and Tav paths you can choose, there is so much content to be explored! Plus, it helped ease me into DnD concepts which is awesome because I am starting to dive into that world too. The soundtrack is phenomenal too, definitely check that out!

The character creator is amazing, and between seeing all the different options and vibing to the character creator music I know I have spent hours there. The combat is so fun and rewards creativity, and can be as difficult as you make it through both the difficulty settings and how you choose to play.

The only issue I had was some performance issues in act 3 (part of it is my rig is aging a little bit), but I know Larian is working hard to patch the game constantly, so I trust fully that they will continue to alleviate those problems.

GO SUPPORT THIS STUDIO! If the rest of the industry shifts to this kind of development knowing they can still succeed, it could change gaming in such a positive way.
