If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.

In the years following the darkest moments of his addiction I had seen his improvement. My heart and life was filled with hope, yet here we are today, the addiction had not been kicked. If anything, his crippling addiction grew stronger, he was just better at masking it. The walls he had built up rivaled The Great Wall of China. He had hidden his suffering under a facade. Perhaps one day he will return to who he previously was, but for now, I have little hope for this poor boy.
