First of all lets get the formalities out of the way:
For me this game is a 10/10 and I strongly recommend it to everyone who is willing to spend a lot of time. Don't bother if you're just here for the action, you wont get far just spamming buttons, even if you press the right ones at the right time. Cause in Monster Hunter preparation is half the hunt.
But if you're willing to hunt by the worlds rules you will have a grand and actually kind of empowering experience.

Every Weapon is unique and fun to play, the Community is actually still pretty active and very helpful 90% of the time.
The Graphics and the Style are very charming and sometimes even Breathtaking and the story is kinda engaging if you manage to get through the boring bits at the start.

So in Conclusion play this game and play it with some friends, you will have a great Time.
And now queue the self indulguent part of this "Review"


It is done! And it only took me 800 Hours.

800 Hours to make every single set of armor, every weapon and to kill every Monster on my own.

Did I enjoy it? Hell yeah I did.
would I do it again? Fk No!
Some of the best experiences in my personal gaming history came from this game, hours of nervewrecking close calls and even more time spent in the menus trying to mix and match the perfect set to hurt the monsters even more.

The Core gameplay loop is crafted perfectly, almost every monster challanges you in one or another way, all the fights feel unique and even though being done with the game for quite some time I would go back every now and then and smacc up some of the starting monsters just because its fun. A lot of fun actually.
After the Hunt I would often spend lots of time goofing around with some friends in the gathering hub or just scroll through Menus hours on end while optimizing my equipment.

But for me the top selling point is the charm of it all. The way the Humans, Wyverians and Palicoes live this Joyful Live while ♥♥♥♥ is always about to hit the fan was just so charming and even though the story was only good-ish and even atrocious at some points I was still always Invested to protect this world that I had such a good time in.

And at the end of it all the final monster almost broke me. (Spoilers for those who haven't gotten there yet.)
Fatalis is simultaniously the best and the Worst of Monster Hunter. Giving you an extremely tough challange that could feel so great to overcome while also forcing you to give up your Playstyle to exclusively focus on the Head if you even want a chance to survive the third phase and even more so if you need his rarest drop 5(!) times for the whole set of armor + his Weapon.
Some Weapons have practicaly no chance of beating this thing solo, for example the Dualblades wont really be able to reach its head without grapple spamming, which is the least fun thing to do in this game. I hated it even though the weapon I exclusively used (Switchaxe) was one of the strongest against this fking thing.
Fatalis is the only monster (Except Leshen, we don't talk about Leshen..) that I wont kill again for the fun of it, killed him thrice for the eyes and now I wont ever go near that thing.

But now some positive things to round out this review. The best times I had in this game was when I played with some friends. While it was annoying some times (not being able to instantly join quests when a cutscene was unwatched for example) but once I reached the true endgame I almost exclusively played with company, most of the time just walking around the Guding Lands hunting whatever walked in front of my Axe and ocassionaly helping out with some of the tougher endgame monsters, some of my favourites being Furious Rajang, Safijiva, Alatreon and of course the Godemperor of all Wyverns, the Omnipotent deity of em all: Kulu-Ya-Ku

In Conclusions, MHW and its expansion Iceborne was my Favourite timewaster of all time and I really hope that when MH Rise starts getting more and more Updates it will suck me in just as much.
