The gameplay is fun. I am a particular fan of the build crafting element you can get out of the modding system. No sniper skill tree? That's fine customize your gear to get that slow time build everyone says you can't do to destroy elites (I won, good game) The story is okay if you're a fan of post-apocolyptic cliches. Some scenes make me laugh, some scenes are bad*** and some scenes activate the cringe a little. Stop writing negative reviews for bad servers. They're working on it, and I struggle to find a single AAA title that involves online play with a smooth start up. All you're doing is hurting creators that actually care about the community for once. 8/10 would recommend this game

Early Access Review
I have never posted a review for any game. This time, this game, I have to say what's on my mind. After sailing around my world, finishing every boss, collecting every resource, and crafting everything I can, this game is ASTOUNDING. I will do my best to conduct a serious review.

Graphics 10/10: Have you ever played minecraft with shaders so intense it drops your FPS to stupid levels? This game manages to keep the patina of a voxel, bit based graphical system, and adds some of the best lighting, shading, and post processing you'll ever see without the crazy drag on performance you see from triple A titles. The stunning vistas of Meadows, the creepy darkness of black forest, and the shimmering and bewildering views of a simple man on a sea voyage on par with sea of thieves bring this homey, seemingly simple game into a life rivaling $60 dollar games currently on the market.

Gameplay 9/10: The game itself is incredibly fun. The implementation of skills seems rather base-line and simple on the surface but delving beneath the surface, you find that as your characters skills increase, your own do as well. This provides a character to player synergy that adds immense depth to the character progression. Every day you play, you'll improve not only your own in-game skills, but also your own skills as well. The game is hard, I won't deny, but difficult in a way that provides room to get better without frustrating roadblocks (except Bonemass, I'll get there.) The progression is streamlined, and feels very polished, something a lot of us do not expect from these early access titles. The combat, right on par with a souls game. Difficult, and rewarding. The elemental damages, physical damage types, and each enemy having unique resistances really push this game into an S-Class rpg.

Story 3/10: There isn't much of a story to this game. You're provided a baseline understanding of what's going on, why it's happening and what you can do if you so wish. I will say, the runestones scattered throughout the landscape, and seemingly hidden in places add to the immersion and lore of the game, but as far as an orchestrated story is concerned, it's basically not there. In my honest opinion, this game doesn't need a story. I am a dead viking traversing the afterlife, that's good enough for me.

Systems, and Mechanics 8/10: There a lot of systems in this game. You have building, hunting, crafting, sailing, fishing, farming, combat, exploration, mining, gathering, realistic physics, animal husbandry and more I've probably forgotten. Each one of these systems have their own mechanics, and nuances that bring each one to life. No fish are biting? You probably need to move homie. Crops not growing? Did you plant them a correct distance away, and in the correct biome? Have you ever been in a situation where you're fighting a scaled flying beast, and not had any arrows? I just cut down trees and waited for one to fall on it. Learning the details of building, such as supports, weathering damage, and defenses are crucial to creating a long standing, and useful home. As you learn the systems and mechanics, it creates room for the player to innovate new ideas to support the mission he's currently on. (tip here, always ALWAYS carry enough wood to repair your sailing vessel)

Price 10/10: This one is simple. This is an absolutely amazing price at $20 USD. It's more than a bargain, it's thievery against the geniuses who created this masterpiece.

Overall Score 9/10: This game is extraordinary. I have never been someone who's giddy for every update, someone who tracks the progress of a game. I didn't even know what a roadmap was for a game before this. I have had the pleasure of spending an entire week discovering all the aspects of this title I can, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Some notes for the devs, should they see this: Bonemass is stupidly hard for the current progression in the game. If it was an intended roadblock, well done. It really gave me a sense of defeat as I licked my wounds, sailing back with broken equipment, no food, no potions, and a disturbing uncertainty of how to move forward. It felt as if I had to cheese the boss, or recruit the help of many friends to fight it. In the end, I triumphed, but not the way I wanted. Thank you for this masterpiece!

Bought game.
Opened game.
Chose to play as armored lizard man.
Got a really big lizard.
Unleashed the power of the ******** sun on some unsuspecting rats.
Proceeded to rampage across the campaign map, obliterating every faction that dare not be my scaly brethren I'd feared into giving me their armies for free.
11/10 would micromanage Lord Kroak again
