Some of the combat was a bit repetetive but that is my only nitpick
Everything else was lovely, even though it was brutal and grotesque at points.
The soundtrack was topnotch and the story was great to go through.
All in all a very good sequel to the first, I'm very pleased with the game.

Dungeons 4 has traded the rpg aspects of the third game for more rts-like gameplay that asks the player to remain active and it's not the best.
Passive evilness has been removed with the abscence of isles of good/evilness in trade for bursts of evilness with "bounties" such as good creatures and patrols on the overworld.
To enable this bounty system all creature specific rooms have been reworked so the snots do everything in the dungeon.
Problem with this is that there is no reason to have units of every faction to have a functioning dungeon, player preference aside. If I don't need horde for traps I will simply never use horde.

The campaign feels passionless and repetetive, multiple times the subtitles don't match what the voice actor/actresses say.
Repeating voice lines whenever you do things like destroying buildings, narrator KEEPS REMINDING YOU THAT THE SPEED STONE YOU CLICKED ON DOES IN FACT SPEED YOU UP, and then again when you click on another stone, looking at mission 19 and 20 here.
You also pretty much unlock everything by mission 12~ so the latter half of the campaign is a massive slog to get through, and the constant commentary on how lame and stretched out everything is from the characters was tilting me towards the end.
This is a meta game obviously but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you ♥♥♥♥ talk your own product this much then I start to feel like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron for playing it.

The story itself is literally "hey what if we bring back the main villain from d3 and have him be the main villain, again."
When the opening missions conclude in all progress from the previous game being nulled then you know you're in for a lazy story.
The new character Tristan was mundane and uninspired, simply a tool to bring back the funny racist paladin from the last game.
Thalya felt stale in this game with the complete absence of "good Thalya" which in my opinion made the character fun and interesting in D3.
The narrator was quite boring this time around, nothing more to add realy.
My tinfoil theory is that the VA's saw how ♥♥♥♥ the writing was which lead to poor performance, I think the narrator did alright and Tristan's VA was the most impressive but all else just fell flat.

One last tangent, there's a good creature that's a walking house and when he does a charge attack he moves out of his "home area" and becomes immune and heals to full, nice playtesting guys.
Sloppiness like this and missmatched subtitles aswell as just wierd audio on some missons, mainly mission 1 with Thalya shows that this ♥♥♥♥ got rushed out.

Some quick good points about the game are as follow.
+Passive power unlocks from the campaign is fantastic and would be lovely to use in endless mode if I liked the game.
+3D models are great and the 3d dungeon is really cool, running around as a snot is cool.
+Undead minions are fun and I like the addition of blight as a resource.
+Horde potions is a cool concept, but it mainly benefits horde heavy comps.

If this is your first dungeons game then I think it's fine-ish as a game but it should be bought on sale, but if you're a previous fan you'll most likely be dissapointed.
I am a big fan of Dungeons 3 and this sequel dissapointed me to no end.
My feelings finishing d4 is that I did it out of courtesy for the product that is Dungeons 3.
