-Remastered and Polished Nostalgia-
That is the title I came up with and think by itself it would be explanatory enough, unless of course you didn't play the OG Mesa in which case; Go now! Experience the blocky classic before plunging into the HD version that is Black Mesa!

Truthfully, I remember seeing some playthroughs of the start but mostly listening to the soundtrack by Joel Nielsen and I think the music itself is great. Movie tier and fitting for Black Mesa. Especially the soundtracks of Xen.
As lovely as it is to see crispy and clean looking Black Mesa facility, scary sleek HECUs, Not PS1 Scientists; I think the Xen chapter of the game is where jaws drop when seeing it.

We might remember Xen being alien in the original at the time but looking back, I still felt it left a little bit to be desired. Of course for the time it came from, it was truly the alien realm. Then came Crowbar Collective and made sure we would truly be blown away when jumping through that portal.

Nothing like going through that portal and entering Xen for the first time to see the breathtaking alien beauty that awaited. The stunning visuals, the otherworldly environment that we now set foot in. It is the most beautiful part of the game and the music only adds to it. Seeing Xen whilst 'Transcendent' plays and the female vocals do so much justice in these Xen tracks.

I believe folks will enjoy hearing 'Ascension' as much as I do. Gordon ascends to become 'The Freeman' and kickass music plays as you get closer to whoop some huge alien ass.

Though Black Mesa definitely improves the underlying feel of the game, at-least how I think, and it is the story of how the World Ends. Black Mesa is a bittersweet tale surely, but one I was more than happy to have experienced.

Still listening to them soundtracks and hoping for Crowbar Collective to someday give Barney and Shepard the HD treatment in their own games. We can dream!

This kid's parents must hate him or are neglectful. Who leaves their child alone at night with nightmare robots that look liek damn angler fishes with all those teeth?! If I was that kid, I'd burn the house down. If theres such thing as Nightmares giving Nightmares, then sign me on.

Investigate the Manor they said, It'll hold secrets they said. Well it did have secrets but its too damn spooky for me. If you dare go in don't be like me, go farther than the first 100 rooms. #2Spook4me

My experience and service for the red army so far:
Me and 10 other of my comrades procceed to charge towards the fritz.
Artillery begins to rain on us, 3 comrades die: Keep charging.
Make it over the hill, Snipers pick out everyone in the front: Keep charging.
Finally the last 3 comrades and I finally reach our destination: Met by tank.
The rest is history. 11/10 Would charge for the motherland again.

First off, I don't just recommend this one i recommend both games. They are very fun and action packed. My favorite part of this game is the style, It reminds me of GTA but simplifed down to a retro arcade machine style. The story (In my opinion) was a bit wonky but you don't really care the first time through, you just care on putting the mask on and bust the nearest goon's skull with a pipe or your fists. The masks are all so unique and some have awesome abilites (others not so much). One tip is aim for high combos, that'll get you higher grades and even A+'s for you overachievers. But the real point is.. "Do you enjoy hurting other people?" The Answer is: Yes, I do like hurting other people.. especially if awesome music is droning in the background through it all!
