Memes these days have become a popularity contest as seen by the trend of memes "dying." Before the 2016 election memes were for those considered social outcasts that lived their lives on the internet sharing jokes that remained funny long after they were first created. Nowadays, due to the popularity of memes because of The Great Meme War of 2016 due to the 2016 election, memes have a lifespan completely changing what a meme use to be. To me all things considered "memes" post 2016 elections are unfunny abstract ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that people create just to be popular as opposed to actually being funny or thought-provoking. There are still some genuinly good ones, but it's just not the same.
