Sorry Bill, this was a failed attempt. When I saw this game and the big names behind it I had to give it a shot. Bill Tiller and Dave Grossman were extensively involved and Ron Gilbert collaborated. The biggest problem that I have is that the game is basically a dumbed down version of Monkey Island 1 Chapter 1 (The three trials). You not only get a really short game (2 hours max) that may or may not have future installments, but the story is not original. In this game you have to woo three ladies. That is the most boring thing I think that could be thought up. There are no mind bending puzzles, limited inventory, and the game is linear as no task crosses into another. The character of Duke is forgettable and the humor is not funny. The art is good, but does not make up for the many aspects that cause this game to fail. I usually give kickstarters more of a break given their circumstance, but from everything that I have mentioned I don’t think I can for this game.

The Journey Down: Chapter One. This game is one that I see as worth playing. The game shows promise with amazing visuals and a relatively intriguing back story, which makes you wonder what will happen in future parts of the game. Everyone mentions the length of the game being short (which it was), but it seems like most point and click adventures from company's like this have been coming out in parts. While I do not agree with many reviewers that this game is at the Grim Fandango or Monkey Island level, I do think that it holds true to what these classics were all about. Something that Telltale and Doublefine have really fallen off the boat at times.

Pros:
Visuals and Animations
Music (Although a few songs are short and got a little repeatative)
Puzzles were not absurd and way out in left field

Neutral:
Length of game (about 2 hours x Three Parts = 6 hours theoretically)

Cons:
Puzzles were a little conservative and Main character offered too much help
Certain character voice acting seemed off and came off a little annoying
Inventory sometimes interfered with arrows for walking to another location

Overall a well developed game for a small studio

Wow, I can't believe how much I liked this game. To start off this was one of the lucasarts games that I have always wanted to play ever since I was a child, back when you talk to the pirate in the Secret of Monkey Island. When I found out that I could buy this game, the Dig, and two Indiana Jones games...wait what! Yep, that is pretty much how it happened. Of course the game shows its age as it was made in 1990 and the game is quite short and simplistic in nature, but for some reason that style of game played to the theme of the game. The distaff I thought was genius and for once I wasn't mad that they didn't have a point and click adventure with an inventory or command buttons. Without revealing much at all, the one thing I was sad about was that the game in a sense the game leaves some things open. Quickly knowing that there was just Loom, I searched the web for the sequel and sure enough there were plans to make two other games that sadly due to a lack of time back in the day where never made. I hope that this review paints a picture of what the game is like, so that you can decide for yourself if you like it.

PS I finally understand that the quote from the Secret of Monkey Island, "I'm Bobbin. Are you my mother?" comes from Loom!

The Order of the Thorne - King's Challenge!

This game is one that I've seen in recent years that has tried to stay true to the old classic Lucasart and Sierra games of the day. This is a good and a bad thing. I found the game to be pleasantly enjoyable in many reguards as I took a walk down memory lane and thought about some of the old games that I had played. The dilemma comes with the reasoning that since the game came out in 2016 it should look and feel much better than the classics as these games did not have the technology to produce the graphics we have today. So while I liked the game generally, here are some pros and cons of the game.

Pros:
The art of many of the backgrounds is good and the art for the portraits are amazing.
The music is easily enjoyed.
Finn is a great main character.
There are some great easter eggs that pay tribute to the classics. I don't even think I caught them all.

Cons:
Game is a little short (3ish hours) and the storyline seems underdeveloped, since this is only the first what seems to be quite a few games (Intros are never that good, as the world and characters have to be setup).
The animations (not the art) seem lacking and the scale sometimes felt off. Some examples being a boat that does not rotate to dock, but instead rows past the dock and diagonally back to it (if you can picture that) or the size of buildings next to Finn.
I also didn't feel like a few characters did not line up with the fantasy world. These were the raptors and sloths. I understand that a game like KQ6 or KQ7 had a ton of weird characters, but the way the island/land seemed to seperate them allowed the game to feel more believable. This seemed more like a bunch of random characters.

For me, this game may not be able to compete with Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's revenge (MY all time favorite point and click). But I still think the game is a good one and do recommend the game for anyone with a liking to point and click adventures, especially if you really enjoyed the old school games back in the day and all its pixel glory. I look forward to future games and understand that what they have been able to accomplish from where they have been is quite miraculous.

P.S. The game runs at 320 x 200 and can scale up, but if you have a computer like mine you will be left with some black borders around the edge, which I don't mind but some people do.

I like the game, but I think overall most people will not like the game. If you don't have a love of puzzles and/or chess and even if you do, you still might not like the game. Reasoning, the game starts out pretty simple and most of the puzzles are easy. The player can plot out there moves and solve the puzzle. Later on the game becomes complicated enough that it is impossible to do this and you can find yourself randomly moving pieces until you find the correct solution. Or as it came down for me, I would work on getting one knight into his proper spot and then moving on to the next knight. Doing so makes the game lose some of the puzzle discovery lose its edge (feels more like chance). The game is kind of extremely short as far as the regular puzzles go. There are daily levels once you reach a certain point which is nice, but all in all I'm going to give this the thumbs down. Hopefully this review helps in understanding what the game is like and you can decide if you like the game or not.

First off, if you have windows 10 then you will have problems running the game.

This game is the best of series one so far. All the games seem to follow the same basic format. There were little things that made the game slightly better, but overall it follows the first two nicely in a pretty dull game.

Pros:
Soda Poppers are not in this one!

Cons:
Short Game, very linear
Terrible Storyline (but the best we have had so far)
Limited Area of Travel, with not really any new areas
Not Funny

I've decided to play through the whole series (once) out of protest to having bought all three games before playing this garbage and writing a review for each. Here is to hoping that Season 2 and 3 are better.

I'm going to choose the right door and say that the Stanley Parable, which has some amazing qualities is not the game that we all think. Does the game have a good message, yes. Is the narration good (although after a few playthroughs it become very repeatative), another yes. So why do I not like the game.

Because the game lacks what I want my games to be full of challenges and puzzles (love point-n-clicks personally). The trouble becomes that I could have watched a video of this and got that same message. Yes the message centers around the choices we make, but sadly is this really changing anyone? Did I need a walking simulator under the guise of a game with a couple of different paths to tell me this? Since the message was good I decided to try and give this game a chance, played through as many situations as I could and then resorted to trying to get all the achievements I could get (something I could do that might be a challenge), but in the end the game lacked the content I am looking for in the games I play as the extra paths and achievements did not lead to anything special. When the speed run of the game can be completed in 4 minutes and 22 seconds that should be a sign that a game lacks content.

So after 2 hours I was done. The sad thing is I don't think the message has the effect that it was hoping to achieve. Most of the people played the game and moved onto the next one. One of the achievements, "Go outside" is achieved by not playing the game for 5 years. I've been on the forums and seen that people are all playing their other games and waiting the "Go outside" achievement, its just absurd. Too bad no one is actually going to go outside. Do I think this game is wonderfully inventive with a ton of different paths? Not really. Essentially (there are a few exceptions) the game has one main path with paths along the way that lead to other endings or "deaths" as I like to call them. It kind of reminds me of King's Quest 6 which had tons of ways to die, humorous lines of dialogue, an intriging story, puzzles galore, oh AND you could win the game a variety of different ways! Why would I want to play this dull game that seems to be very cheaply made when there are many more games that have the whole package. Having spent most of what the game has to offer in a couple of hours I am probably never going to play this game ever again, looks like I will be able to get 5 year achievement after all!

First off, if you have windows 10 then you will have problems running the game.

This game is worse than the first. Reason all of the bad stuff from before and then some. Once again the game felt like it was meant for a little kid as the story is extremely stupid. The game was even shorter than the first, so if you liked that one you get half a game. One new area for the entire game, the rest just the same old stuff with a new storyline (which was terrible by the way). Again, I regret buying this game and other telltale products, as Tales of Monkey Island was the only one with a decent story and humor.

Pros:
...

Cons:
Even Shorter Game (really a pro for me, but this game has yet to prove that there are any pro's)
Continued Terrible Storyline
Limited Area of Travel, with not really any new areas
Not Funny
Soda Poppers continue to exist somehow!

I would have to say the game itself was definitely a shock and not in a good way. I apparently am not a huge fan of the Sam & Max humor. I found most of the game rather boring and not funny. The game felt like it was meant for a little kid as the story is extremely stupid. I regret buying this game and other telltale products, as Tales of Monkey Island was the only one with a decent story and humor.

When this game came out, it was like no other game before. This game will always be remembered as a timeless classic. Of course if you are planning on getting this game, I would not recommend this one. As the game is rather broken and needs an extensive fix. There are better options out there.
