Love it or hate it, Fallout 4 is a solid game that delights and aggravates alike. From the side quests and the DLC packs to the main story (I call it: How to Fail at Parenting and Be Ok With It), this game provides hours of fun, excitement, and the occasional swearing. Let's be honest, the vanilla game is all right. The companion characters add some depth to the this type of game (FPS, RPG, or both or ?) and are fun to have by your side (Dogmeat ftw!) or mess with (literally everyone else). But wait, there's more, and by more I mean mods.

To add flavor to this story, the modding community is where it's at. Want to add a functional Glock or other real world type firearm to your lineup? Need random packs of tough feral ghouls to show up at incredibly inopportune times? Altered companion appearance (to the point of overkill and beyond!) and NPC dialogue? New companions? Yep, there are mods for those. The modding community has given to this game a giant boost in longevity and continued playability.

I love this game even when it does not love me back. The surprise guest of a Deathclaw out of nowhere, the random mininuke whistling towards you when you put one foot in the wrong territory, and the glitches do not detract from the overall fun of playing the kind, helpful wanderer, or a gun-toting a$$hole. So have fun building a settlement with pride or have a "friendly fire" moment (5th this week, management is now involved).

Enjoy!!!
