Obsessive Collector at heart. Mostly trophy hunt on psn (KhajiitWerewolf) but use steam mostly for visual novels. I love to read as well as game, and VNs combine the best of both worlds.

TL;DR Heed the warnings. I thought this VN was excellent but it definitely isn't for everyone.

I'm the sort of person who is always the most fascinated by the villain in every story and their backstory and motivations, so a VN where every character was in some way deranged was intriguing. First of all, the developer's walkthrough suggests the Vincent route first and if you do that you'll see some of the worst this game has to offer, but the intensity of his route isn't what to expect from the whole game. There are 12 character routes, and each brings something different to the table. While some are traditional predators, clearly abusive in obvious and unmissable ways, others are... subtle. Does he mean it when he flirts? Is this the first time she's lost her temper? She isn't truly dangerous... right? Some character routes were even relatively benign. Is it a problem to date a mafia boss if he's always kind to you?

I was especially intrigued because a lot of the tropes these characters follow are traits explored in other dating sims, but in those sims they're romanticized. Here, we see a bit more what that yandere type would play out as. Levels of psychological horror or stress varied by route. There were even sweet moments. And an overarching plot tying it all together, which was a nice touch. If you are similarly intrigued by atypical/villainous/broken characters, I recommend giving it a shot (read warning and other reviews first). The demonic woman's voice who narrates the very beginning of the game will break the fourth wall and act as a brief trigger warning on some occasions, but if you know you have triggers to graphic violence or other themes given in the warnings section, I'd avoid it to be safe.

Finally, I wanted to say... the developer's guide said people universally reviled Lucien. He was my favorite. The partial voice actor they got was excellent, as his voice could either be read as seductive, or very sleazy and predatory. He wears a suit of armor that even he barely seems aware of, and in every story route you never really see underneath for more than a brief moment, and in order to get his 'best' ending, the MC has to remain willfully ignorant of his worst traits, as they do in a lot of routes. The character had constructed such a robust defense mechanism they ceased to truly exist, and this and other things made his route my favorite to explore. All the other characters have feelings and intentions that are made clear, even in their warped intensity, but Lucien himself can't figure out his own emotions toward the MC, so thick are the walls he's built around himself. I enjoyed this gaming experience.
