pros:
- Campaign, Matchmaking, and Firefight is relatively untouched
- Updated graphics look great
- Controls and video settings are highly customizable

cons:
- No Forge
- Multiplayer campaign is unplayable, as the ptp connections cause input lag. The devs stated that they will not be fixing this.
- You have to make an Xbox Live account and use that to play. This is one of the lesser problems, but I still find it annoying that I have to use an Xbox gamertag and not my Steam username.
- Changed leveling system. The original was fine and the change is pointless.

Summary: 343 made bad changes to a good game, but what's there is still Halo: Reach, and Reach is fantastic.

Occasionally a little rough around the edges, but retains the overall classic halo experience.

It has it's frustrations, but Ark is a good game. Yes, it's exactly what 10 year-old you always dreamed of. Want to build a turret-coated mansion on the back of a massive sauropod? Go for it. Want a robot T-Rex that can shoot lasers? Yeah, Ark has that. Want to be Chris Pratt from the stupid reboot of Jurassic Park? Sure, why not? Want to join an official PvP server and raid rival tribes?

Don't.

Official servers, even PvE, are absolutely terrible, so don't bother. In my opinion, this game is best enjoyed with a group of friends (or people you can trust, at least.) I've had a ton of fun building kingdoms and dino armies with friends. This game has plenty of content for single player, so if you're a loser you can enjoy this game alone.
You may be wondering what the frustrating parts of this game are. Well, Have you ever wanted the video game equivalent of having your home destroyed by a force of nature? If your answer is yes, then you're lying, you sack of dead batteries. In just a few minutes, your house, your stuff, and your dinos can be destroyed by a number of things. There's no way around this unless you want to play it safe, but that's not fun. A good way to counteract this is to turn up the harvest rate and taming speed, which you should do anyway, unless you hate yourself.
The paid DLC are pointless, just play the free DLC maps. No, scratch that, just play Ragnarok. It's basically The Island and Scorched Earth combined, minus the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ parts of both.

TLDR; Play game with friends, boost resource collecting, assemble an army of extinct creatures, and do whatever the hell you want.
