Its hard to believe that at its core, this is a NES game that came out in 1988. This game predates any and every rpg that I have ever played but its ideas are still very apparent and present in games that I play today, a true timeless classic in that sense.

In a continent threatened by the evil archfiend Baramos it is you the Hero who sets out on a grandiose adventure to stop him and restore peace to the land. You set out to finish the same journey your father once committed, but lost his life to. You get to pick your party members, their vocations, and names too. A world that feels so alive and one where every conversation can turn itself into a new adventure or place to check out adds to the epic tale you set out on. Dungeons and bosses, especially on hard difficulty, feel just right. Monsters pose just enough of a challenge that you cant outright ignore or autopilot against them and when it comes to bosses having a strategy for the fight goes a long way.

With this being my first dragon quest game its easy to see why its a well respected franchise and one that has people in a uproar every time a new mainline title drops.

This game really makes you FEEL like Sonic

Waking up in a dream that feels all too familiar, wandering a city working for a man I don't even know. Getting into back alley fights with alcoholics, shoot outs with my childhood buddy, and learning all the dark secrets there is to learn about my already dying city. Kowloon's Curse: Lost Report is an adventure into Kowloon and all that it has to offer, getting lost in the hustle and bustle of the city and learning what it takes to make it here. Everything about this game gives off this fever dream as if I have seen or experienced it before and It kept me coming back for more. Great OST and simple but funny combat system made each encounter feel like a treat. Cant wait to dive back in and see what I missed on my first play through.

Forget all the democracy spreading. Playing with your friends will teach you which one of them are real ones. I got my own cousins calling in napalm and eagle strikes over my head and then laughing at me while I await my untimely demise. Its an amazing experience
