I tried hard to like this game. For some, it's a good game. For others, it's just not going to float their boat.

First off, when you land on the planet, you cannot get very far without oxygen. So your first several hours involves manufacturing air bottles so you can extend your searches little by little. After a while, the grind really starts to set in. So I grabbed a few cheats from Cheat Happens to bypass the oxygen limits.

Thinking the fun factor would rise to the top, I started a new game. This time, I landed in a lake. Unplayable. Start again. I was able to manufacture a living quarters but there was no door to allow me access. So I gave up, having better things to do than grinding away on the thin ice of a new day. (JT)

A fun little game. Great graphics. Kid friendly but there is a boss near the end that will prove difficult for them.

Even at the easiest setting, the game is impossible to win. Dinos spawn and attack you en masse. As such you cannot carry out your missions without a great deal of difficulty. Instead of gradually increasing the difficulty, the devs thought it would be fun to throw everything at you at once. This is not fun. The story is thin, but the action is way over the top. Balance, people! You need balance in a game, not just mindless (and endless) shooting!

A stunningly beautiful game. Lovers of Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus will certainly enjoy this one. This game is very difficult in places. But, with some judicious viewing of YT videos, you can get past them.

After playing this for about 2 months, I've revised my feedback on the game. The crafting is super simple. Just make sure you plunder every locker, garbage can, and slig. (Yes, you can now knock out sligs, tie them up, and then pickpocket them.

One gripe I have (repeated by others on the forum) is that every time you die, you have to scrounge through the same lockers, garbage, cans, etc, and neutralize the same enemies. Looking for the nearest save point (and there are many) can nullify some of this.

Worst of all is the auto-save function. You can only go back to the last save point. It would have been nice to allow players the ability to do manual saves. Then, in case you missed something, you can load your save and fix things.

A caution about using cheats. CheatHappens does have a set of cheats for this game, but be very careful how you use them. You can get into areas you are not supposed to be in, which breaks the game and usually traps you some place you cannot get out of. This forces you to restart the entire level from the beginning. You have been warned.

Still, this game is a nice addition to the Oddworld collection. Hardcore enthusiasts aside, I love it.

With more and more building sims coming on-line, Builder Simulator aims to take the competition down. That said, it has issues that may prevent any earth-shaking game play.

The game comes with a set of tutorials that lead the player by the hand. Once you've plowed through them, you begin by taking contracts, each one getting progressively harder, or, more "grindier," depending on your view. There is also a sandbox mode to let you go all out, doing everything from pouring concrete to putting flower vases and paintings around your creation.

If you've ever worked in RL construction, much of what you do in BS makes little sense. There are buildings with no windows, overlooking spectacular views of nature. There are walls that seal off a house into separate compartments. Applying stucco to an exterior results in a nice decorative brick finish instead of a smooth plaster coat.

Unfortunately, there is a game breaker that will not allow the player to advance past contract #8. And until the devs fix that issue, I cannot recommend this game. I have contacted LMG, and there are plenty of cries on the Steam forums concerning this. If and when this gets fixed, I'll modify my review.

BS is a fun distraction for those of us who have dreamed of going into the construction trade but couldn't stand the thought of getting our hands dirty and a sore back.

The game seems dated. After playing a few rounds, I just could not get my head into it. The vulgar language, which accurately reflects life in prison, gets tedious. You actually quit reading the prisoners' responses, they are so banal.

I hated this game at first. Even though I love puzzles, I didn't feel equal to the challenge of Abriss. Surely it must appeal to Super Geeks. But after a while, I started to grasp the physics and tinkered around with it. After a couple of YT videos, which showed me what I was missing, the game had me hooked. The game has an Undo and Re-do Last Move, which I appreciate.

A couple of caveats:

• The isometric view is locked. I wish that the game allowed me to tilt the view back or down, etc.
  
• Only the mightiest of machines can take advantage of the complex particle physics. It's said that software is what drives the hardware, and Abriss is firmly behind the wheel here.

Perhaps one of the most satisfying games you'll play. The voice acting is Top Drawer, as are the animations. Some may find the gory explosion of body parts over-the-top, but there's really no way to to give you feedback that says, "Gotcha, scumball!" Besides, showing the insides of a human body sort of removes the reality of an in-your-face horror of what it really looks like.

AFAIK, the scenarios are loosely based on actual missions and actors. The one thing I like about it is that it's actually winnable on Normal difficulty. A lot of shooters--and I've played a thousand--are impossible to win without cheat codes. SE4 needs no cheat codes.

I would caution parents (I've got several kids and a bunch of grandkids) to keep your kids far from this game.

Frigore is Latin for Frigid. The survival game is in Early Access. As such, it has bugs. Worse, it has little in the way of content. After finding the third house, I quit the game. The sameness is numbing. While the Unity engine is employed to generate the realistic environment, it's a shame there's nothing to attract your average survival nut.

An annoying problem is switching from KB/M to an X-Box controller. Once done, I couldn't reverse the decision. Going to the main screen apparently only recognizes a keyboard. But when you're using a controller, you're unable to access any main menu settings.

The buildings are probably placeholders, since they are too clean and sterile. They definitely need to be "roughed up" to match them to the surroundings.

The dev probably had it in mind to scare the crap out of the player by adding horror screams at points along the way. The scream coming through a pro sound system scared everyone in the room. Turning down my system caused the other sounds to become nearly silent. Worse, it nearly cost me a night on the couch.

I'd stay away until the dev cleans house. In an already overcrowded survival genre, Frigore just doesn't offer anything new.

Scarier than Little Nightmares 1. It's a little buggy in parts. A restart from your last position will fix them. Do NOT let your little ones play this game. They will have nightmares, guaranteed. While the game plays well with a controller, sometimes a little keyboard help will get you past some of the tough parts.
