Early Access Review
I was interested in this game as I enjoy dungeon crawlers, and this one seemed alright, if not extremely average, but I cannot recommend this game as its important characters have obvious low-quality AI voice acting. which is not disclosed on the store page. I can't condone a project that uses AI voices. full stop. Other than that, the game is fine; it uses the same character model pack that thousands of other games use on Steam. The music is fine, and the Gameplay is fine. nothing offensive but nothing worth writing home about. and as other people have pointed out, it's not well balanced in the slightest. and honestly, it's just not worth 24 dollars considering they couldn't even be bothered to get real voice actors. Now I'm not confident in saying it's ALL AI voices, as I have no real way to check, which is the problem when non-disclosed AI-generated content is included in a project, but I say skip this one.

I was absolutely blown away by this game, the leveling system not being tied to combat, the changing dialogue based on player choice, the incredible exploration and unique quest design all had me gripped from start to end, I don't often enjoy open world games because I find it feels like the world is mostly filler, but Dread Delusion somehow makes nearly all of it's world feel unique and engaging to explore where I think some games would struggle. if you have the money and you love fantasy RPGs I urge you to give it a try

This game is sick. I played every level on the 3 star difficulty and having compared it to the other options I don't know why there's a difficulty setting at all? it barely makes any real difference other than not shooting civilians but the enemy's don't care about them at all and they have a giant "don't shoot me" symbol above their head so I had no trouble avoiding civilian casualty's. now I do recommend the game (probably on sale) but there are some things I noticed while playing which i'll list out now

-the master volume slider only mutes "some" sounds while at 0
-several enemies even with low volume are so LOUD which can be very painful
-basically every encounter can be made trivial by backing out of the room and shooting enemies on entry
-enemies very easily lose you and shooting enemies outside of their aggro range is common
-after closing the game re-binded controls are reverted
-you can't rebind 50% of the controls
-the bosses are honestly a joke a few good shots with the right weapon and they crumple
-on 3 star enemies will sometimes spawn in walls
-many weapons have incredibly lame alt-fires
-the projectile the rocket shoots is massive and often explodes on firing when shooting around corners
-the rocket launcher's sound is VERY LOUD.
-levels have frequent checkpoints and death has no real consequence

it's a good game with a really good soundtrack. it just needs some polish.

hard to call it a puzzle game as someone who liked shovel knight and loves puzzles I figured this would be a slam dunk, but the game is best played with your brain off. I cannot fathom releasing a rouge-like at this time while the marketplace is FLOODED with them, every other games a rouge-like i'm sick of it, and this game dosen't help as it's a bad rouge-like and an even worse "puzzle" game.

As a puzzle lover this has some great ones, and the atmosphere and presentation is really enjoyable, the characters are memorable and exploring the mansion is nice, My one gripe with the game is during sections where characters could potentially die they decide to give extremely vague clues and kinda trial and error "oops you should have known that" solutions that make these sections oftentimes exasperating.

So. overall I like the game, it's a pretty by the numbers boomer shooter with some weird quirks, but nearly every level there's a "purge" section where your ENTIRE SCREEN is turned red and I don't know if it's just my eyes or what but it makes it so hard for me to see anything, making it hard to shoot enemies and IMPOSSIBLE to discern the ORANGE projectiles because EVERYTHING IS TINTED RED. so not only am I completely blinded but these sections are where the game puts the levels harder enemies. so I can't really recommend the game until there's a way or an option to turn it off. It makes what should be the most fun part of these levels absolute eye-cancer.

Edit: there is now an option to turn off the red tint, so yeah I'd recommend this game, easy!

The games good, It hit's the old crpg spot while modernizing things in a way that almost wholly makes it better. the low intelligence run is very fun though for side quests you are often times greeted with normal dialogue but with amount of content here i'm impressed with the amount of dialogue they already changed for a type of character not even half of the play-base will ever try out. the combat is pretty smooth the voice acting when present is almost always well done, and my only real complaint is the lack of a speed up function when walking around areas. some of the areas where quest givers are can be huge, and your character only moves so fast especially if you make a lower move speed character. having to walk through these areas over and over can be absolutely grating. so to fix this I used console commands to increase to game speed to 2x to get around in a reasonable amount of time. but then when sneaking about i'd want the game speed to be lower so I could react more. which would be fixed by having game speed controls on the ui, there was an attempt to fix this by adding small trucks in some of these areas that fast travel you around the area, but there's no indication where they will take you and every time I used one it would disorient me and somehow through sheer coincidence take me farther from where I was trying to go.

Early Access Review
The game was pretty fun, and I was excited for the variation the new characters would add. but it's difficult to enjoy anything about the game in recent updates because of the curses and status effects enemies can put on you, Like if you don't one turn every battle you will lose out on battle rewards nearly permanently. and in terms of certain status effects you will hemorrhage health with your only recourse be lose health now or lose EVEN MORE HEALTH next turn. god help you if your run isn't going absolutely perfectly and you run into any enemy like this. I don't want to understate this, you'll be fighting a regular enemy and they can just PERMANENTLY CURSE YOU, there's rare curse removal items and you can remove curses at the healer but you only get to choose one thing at the healer so god help you if you're low on health. I've also been told you can avoid getting the curse by using an item to remove the curse status effect before the battle ends. but again this is just extremely punishing for no reason, I could understand curses being a thing in a challenge game mode but it just being retroactively added to everything is insane. Overall I feel it punishes you for playing the game with your only recourse be hope you find enough anti-curse items (which is impossible considering the frequency you are being cursed.) I wanted to have an open mind but the curse items you're forced to pick up aren't even "it's got side effects but it's still useful" it's things like "+1 dmg but you lose 1 health every turn" or "deals 10 dmg but inflicts 3 self damage and stops working" it's just a horrific side effect with a really lame positive effect. I think there's a fix for this beyond fully removing curses. like maybe making the cursed items down-sides disappear when you purify the curse? or putting the curses into their own game mode solely for the devs? just anything to make the curses feel like they aren't a detriment to the game as a whole. because as is, it stifles the creativity on display with the new characters, and i'm not really sure how it got past early testing.

This game is fun and pretty, but there's a lot of little things that add up to make me kinda mixed on it. the story Just repeats pretty much, making the "twist" so obvious that the fact you need to do a "detective" quest to figure it out makes the main character seem slow The combat is fun but the difficulty is all over the place and I personally never found many of the areas to be horribly difficult especially since you can carry like 21 full heals at all times. but to combat this the designers decided to throw a bunch of instant death pits in the back half of the game, and that wouldn't be the worst thing but every time I died to one I was surprised as they aren't very clearly marked, luckily these are few and far between but it always felt cheap when I encountered one. I'm also not happy about the weapon scaling. there's a bunch of gold weapons in the shop for like 80-90k each and I had farmed enough for them around mid-game only to be horrified that they are the strongest weapons in the game, making each and every weapon I received afterwards feel absolutely worthless. which compounds on the issue this game has with rewards, the exploration in this game is very fun but 80% of the chests you find are filled with literal garbage. they have rings labeled as "ordinary" or "rare" and they add like 4 or 5 attack or health or whatever but before you're even 10% through the game all your ring slots will be filled with actually good rings so these rings are pretty much only useful to sell but they sell for next to nothing and are annoying to sell in the UI to boot as you can't sort them from your actually useful rings. and again by mid game you will have 10s of thousands of gold, so opening a chest to find a ring that sells for 160 is the biggest slap in the face, only slightly worse than opening a chest to get 300 gold which is better since you don't have to go to the shop to pawn off the junk. it feels like the people who balanced the weapons and decided the chest rewards wanted to do everything in their power to deincentivize exploration. if you just fight enemies to grind gold you can get some of the best equipment in the game and never have to explore at all. which is a shame as the movement and exploration in this game is so good. there's so many cool secrets and hidden rooms, but there's nothing worse than finding a well hidden cool secret room just to open the chest and get 200 gold.

Pretty good game, As metroidvania games go i'd put it in the top 80% the story is pretty much nonexistant but I feel the gameplay more than makes up for that. There's also several alternate modes after beating the main game so replayability is definitely there. overall It's a pretty fun game with a good amount of content.
