Killed a lamp

The game itself is alright, however the remaster kinda blows. There isn't much improvement other than the lighting engine, but I couldn't care less if it looks like gold considering this is the only version I can have. The biggest issue, and it's incredibly glaring, is the audio, the mixing is all wrong, things are significantly louder than others when they should be equal or quieter, and the dialogue audio sounds like it went through a compressor 10 times to sound worse than a PS1 game. Graphics are nice, but audio is just as important, when your first game has better audio quality than the remaster of your 5th entry, I think something's gone wrong. I've been playing through the games in order, and seeing the first hour of gameplay here, it's just sad, especially compared to the game just before it. I remember playing this when it came out on the PS3 and seeing it treated poorly like most ubisoft games now, it sucks. I wouldn't have bought this on its own, I got it in the big bundle of games when it was on sale, but with Ubisoft and where they're headed, none of the games are worth it.

TL;DR
If the game wasn't busted it'd be a 7/10, but with it in the state that it will die in, it's a 4/10. There are still bugs from before, and more bugs added on top, inconsistent quality with both audio and graphics, and a blatant cash grab. Ubisoft has fallen in many ways and shouldn't be supported, not just because of this being a bad "remaster"

Super fun game. it's more of an experience in the sense it isn't long but still has about 6 hours worth of content if you explore around. The atmosphere for this game is impeccable, the sound design is amazing, the visuals are super good, and the puzzles aren't that hard, but still take some thinking. I played through the game in one sitting and it was great, I experienced two bugs, but the checkpoint reload fixed them. If you're looking for a long game with skill trees and cosmetic armor, then you're far from the mark and should strive to diversify your games. Plus you're a cute cat and you can do cute cat things, terrorizing the towns and the people. Oh and the music, fantastic.

It's a pretty fun game all things considered, the main problem I experience is really bad pop-in, even after doing things to help improve it. The ultra settings for textures and world geometry are bugged, after playing for about 30 minutes you'll get rainbow textures or foliage will have a missingno-esque texture. The game runs fine, it looks fantastic when everything works properly. The racing feels like a forza game, if you played 4, it's basically the same game new area. The reason for not recommending the game is because of the issues that haven't been fixed since the game came out. Looking for solutions or other people experiencing these bugs and you'll see it all the way back to when it launched. It breaks the immersion and sometimes ruins the game. If you have ray tracing on there's a chance the game will crash while in the garage because of a bad texture. The courses that they release for the timed events are cool enough, however, they have a lot of issues, they tend to be these long and winding tracks that go up into the air and do tight turns and what not, it's cool in concept, but it feels like it was put together by an amateur because there are huge seems in the tracks where you'll hit it and you'll lose all speed and can't make the turn requiring you to rewind and hope you don't lose too much speed. That's not the only issue though, it seems there are a lot of graphical issues with these tracks too, causing huge pieces of geometry to disappear, for example, I did one that was really cool, but the mountain was disappearing at certain angles and it looked really bad. The base game races are quite fun though. If they can get better seasonal track design and fix the graphical issues, I think that it would be worth the $60, but as of right now, get it one sale for cheaper, or just wait until you see an update to the bugs.

I should mention my specs before people call them out for the game being poorly optimized.

Ubisoft is removing access to the game, even if you own it already, meaning you can't even play it. This is deplorable and shouldn't be allowed
