Risk of Rain returns is a tiny bit more than this and 10x better. ♥♥♥♥ Gearbox, ♥♥♥♥ Take2. None of them understand the game or what made it the success it was, their acidic touch has pretty much murdered the entire base game so go revert the Update if you wan't to play the base game. We had hope that they were going to respect the franchise, but the only people that gave a ♥♥♥♥ was Chris with his excellent music and the artists. Even if it wasn't bugged to hell and back, the overall balance is off, overall content was just lacking as well.

This update and the autopsy on the code should be studied and hung above game director's and big suits' heads as to how you do not run a game.

God this is depressing. Wtf happened

It's fun but clunky.

The first island is great but things completely change as you enter the main island, the base building is weird and doesn't fit imo. Shooting is okay but It does feel a bit clunky, everything seems to have been designed around a controller for some reason? menu's are weird and the ui gets taking used to. The AI of the bots is atrocious, most fights come down to getting them stuck on terrain where they can't hurt you and the ability to hit you even with no direct line of sight is annoying.

BUT the sound design is some of the best I've heard, guns are deafening. Firing a shotgun indoors sounds like a jump scare in itself. enemies sound amazing, absolutely terrifying, especially the tank, i just wish the AI could keep up with that level of fear. Nothing quite puts the fear of god into you like hearing a tank run toward you at full tilt for the first time, hunters match that as well, even the dogs are pretty effective when you first encounter them at the start.

This game had a lot of potential but It feels like the idea changed half way through. With your only interaction of ai being the bots, the actual ai itself is very important. And it's probably the weakest part of the game, i don't envy trying to make it competent as you would either need to make it possible to destroy bases (The none player made ones) or work overtime on something that can traverse the terrain and maybe work with the smaller bots more effectively. Some sort of synergy where they send out dogs/hunters and don't just sit still waiting for you to peak out. Idk, a lot of work would need to be done to make the AI as threatening, or at least as engaging as you would expect it to be, but I still enjoy the atmosphere and satisfaction of hunting these giant robots

It's alright but it has a lot of ♥♥♥♥ missing.

The sounds are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and general ability to recognise what's going on is pretty horrendous, It's worse than warthunder and that's no mean task.
All the guns use the same sound, footsteps are impossible to hear and general ability to hear people is nie impossible. Your team shows up as blue dots on your screen no matter how far away they are making it real confusing. There's no grenade warning indicator or noise making nade spam common. Back capping is almost constant as it's so easy to zoom past people often turning games a constant back and forth of back caps.

The guns I have played feel alright, attachments are vast and fun to mess with, idk the full ins and outs of what is meta though a lot of people like using the vector. The scope options are nice, but the magnifications are either a 1x or way to far zoomed in for what im using. The recoil on these medium range scopes is also pretty severe so it ends up being real awkward to use even in those further out ranges unless you tap fire.

Once I actually find a front line it feels pretty good, but it can be real hard to tell where enemies are or where fights are going down, a lack of a minimap also adds to the confusion. The game feels like a weird cross of call of duty and battlfield. The "front" moves almost constantly and just feels like people getting flanked constantly all of the time, snipers are as oppressive as any game like this and with the players camera coming from your torso it's very easy to get picked off by just about anyone when you think you are safe.

Maybe I've been spoiled by planetside 2's gunplay and sound, though the hours long deadlock fights are nice to get away from as much as they can be fun

I watched the game grow from its infancy, I remember seeing the E3 trailer (I think?), it's been one hell of a ride and the result is one of the best games on steam.

The map is extremely pretty, I can just spend hours wondering around it beating up the local wildlife and exploring. Visually it's truly stunning with a slue of settings to get the best performance, even on an old 1060 card I can get a solid 60+ with it looking great. Play wise I would describe it as, quality of life: Pretty much everything has extra settings or additional features pegged to it to make it easier or more intuitive to use or interact with, each update adds a whole host more and makes you question how you survived so long without it.

You are given a full quiver of toys and functional decorations to make your factory look as extravagant as you so desire, the building is super intuitive and easy to interactive with so you can go truly mad to your desire.
