A look on what is 'essential' when it comes to surviving an unknown world.

A short but sweet experience with lovely music, interesting premise and narrative with a solid ending to boot. Looking forward to seeing more from this studio :)

Great style, pretty good gameplay and dogs.
At first I found Overland too challenging for me and I found myself spending too much effort getting frustrated at the difficulty and I had no time to appreciate the game's visual style and music (they're amazing by the way). I really do love how each level feels like its own setpiece, kind of like a boardgame looks. But before, I found it too frustrating to play and decided to leave it.
When v1.2 arrived, the most notable thing that stood out to me was an easier difficulty for you to play, which is what made me reinstall. I started a new game with the easier difficulty and my playthrough was a lot more enjoyable this time round.
It still provides somewhat of a challenge though which is what made it all the more rewarding to play.
The ending was also a very drastic shift from any other apocalypstic game I had played, one that was a lot more contemplative as the characters essentially thought back on what they had just been through. It was a pleasant surprise.

Overall, I'd say it's worth the price with this new update that adds more than just the new difficulties. The gameplay is very comparable to stuff like Invisible Inc and XCOM 2 so if you like the idea of an apocalyptic turn-based strategy game, I can't recommend Overland enough.
