Lords of the Fallen is quite a different beast in the Souls-like realm, and that's what makes it cool. The game's dual world system makes exploring twice as fun as the regular Souls clones out there.

The combat is speedy, not your usual Souls-like stuff, but it's a blast. The punches you throw, the swings you make, they all feel satisfying, which is a big win. The magic system particularly is in my honest opinion a massive upgrade to the usual souls-like system of cycling through spells since you can bind spells to certain buttons

However, it's not all roses. The game can go overboard with enemies, throwing tons of them at you, and some enemies show up in just the most annoying spots and most times even supported by range if they are melee enemies :/ . It's not a walk in the park, but more like a walk through a thorny bush.

Despite these hiccups, I'd still say give Lords of the Fallen a go. It's got a different flavor of exploration and combat that's worth trying out.

Even after finishing the game there is the option of NG+ which in most games simply raises the difficulty/percentage of enemies however Lords of the Fallen also adds changes to the map in NG+ such as removing most "bonfires" making your second journey twice as challenging.
