I edited this review, you can find the original review (which had a negative rating) down below.

I don't have a lot to say, they simply fixed the teleporting Zeds, which was by far my biggest complaint. The larger Zeds don't teleport at all and for the smaller Zeds it's more or less impossible to notice since they need to be very far away.

I still believe the Zeds should sometimes spawn a bit farther away (if you are in a bad spot they can spawn directly around a corner, maybe 5 metres away), but it's ok the way it is most of the time. The new classes are nice and they constantly add more content. If they add objective mode in the future (and from all I've heard that's pretty much a given) the game will a worthy successor to the original game.

I don't mind the microtranscactions either - if someone wants to spend a few dollars to get a silly looking weapon retexture any Photoshop amateur could do in 30 minutes that's not my problem. Killing Floor is not the most serious game so I don't mind silly clothing and weapons. And if the mircrotransactions allow the devs to add more free content that's the best thing that can happen to me.

OLD, OUTDATED REVIEW:

It's early access, so I'll just write a short review for people who have played the first Killing Floor previously. I would love to say that this is more of the same with most of the small problems fixed, better graphics and (later on after early access) more content.

Unfortunately it is not. They pretty much butchered all of the fun by letting Zeds teleport to any location and spawn at any location at any time. The levels are completely interchangeable due to that, there is no exploring needed as there are no 'sweet spots' anymore like in KF 1, where you stop to fight the cheating AI doesn't matter at all. Checking your surroundings is completely pointless since Zeds will just spawn or teleport directly behind you if you are looking in the other direction for a second. You run away from the last 10 Zeds on the map and suddenly some of them magically appear around the next corner even though they were behind you a few seconds ago. Why can I even run away if it doesn't serve a purpose? It's silly.

Like expected the game does have better graphics, animations etc. But the gameplay is simply far, far, far worse than Killing Floor 1 right now. It's yet another victim of the 'adjust to the (dumb) player' philosophy that many games have nowadays. Whether it's RPGs that scale enemies and loot to your level (so your character's level becomes just a meaningless number), racing games that make your opponents drive faster or slower depending on your own performance (so you can win a race even if you constantly crash during the first 4 of 5 rounds and lose a race even though you drove perfectly for the first 4 rounds, but made a small mistake in the last corner before the finish line) or this now. I have no idea how anyone could like this crap. But I guess the brainless idiots who love this don't even notice that enemies spawn right in front of their face. I really hope they don't have any success with this trash.

How much is TWI paying you to be their lapdog?

-You're right, I should say fixed*, sorry about that.

Thanks for the info. Seems like they still teleport (the teleportation was only reduced, not removed), but I will definitely give the game another try and adjust my review if necessary. It's not like I don't want to like the game.

Zed teleporting removed? Since when?

-Zed teleporting has been removed. I didn't notice any other gameplay cons in your review. Let me know if you have any other ones and I hope I can help!

@phittte You misunderstood me...I was agreeing with you. I suppose that was my fault for being unclear.

In KF2 all of this is gone since it doesn't matter where you stand to fight the ZEDs. They just spawn directly next to you, behind you and even on top of you. You can't outrun them either since then they'll just spawn directly in your path, those 'last man standing' moments where you would hope the last guy would be smart enough to survive the wave are meaningless now. Tactics and teamwork hardly matter anymore since you have no time to for that and tactical movement through the map is impossible due to the enemies spawning wherever they want.

TL;DR If I want to play Serious Sam I play Serious Sam and not Killing Floor 2.

In the end rating a game is always subjective, but I think this game is so extremely far away from what I liked about KF1 that I can't give it a positive rating. If you like a mindless, adrenaline fueled shoot-fest then KF2 can of course be a good game for you. But what I liked about KF1 was how you had to explore the maps, find the best spots to fight the ZED hordes and how you then had to tactically fight the larger ZEDs while keeping the smaller ZEDs at bay as well. The game had a relatively slow pace and was all about teamwork and tactics.
