In my opinion, when we want something lifeless or an object, we can achieve it by trying hard in a way that we are the x variable and that object is a constant. However managing people or dealing with people is like solving x = y equation, where the possible answer is infinite. Our desire, goals, and talents might be different and unique. So in this case, we just cannot try hard and force the others to do something we want to do. Thus as a manager, we will have to use special powers such as acknowledgment, empathy, patience, inspiration, awesome vibes, understanding, walking into others’ shoes and wearing their clothes, this-is-what-we-live-for-hope-giving aura, and all those emotional intelligence stuff. Only when we can see what our team can see and feel what they feel, we would be able to continue working as a team. Unfortunately, it is not as simple as it sounds. Thus whenever I face a situation where we have to use our special powers, I usually tell my friends, “Let us solve this x = y equation, I know you all love math. ”
