I recommend Mageia (mageia.org) , a very user friendly, international, big Linux distribution. You will find the Steam client in the official repository of Mageia (= inside the "app store" = "software center" in Mageia).

If you see me playing Windows games it's via Wine or the new "Proton" inside the Steam client wich allow to play more and more Windows games on Linux, too.
