its alright. as of writing this review the funding for this game has been cut dramatically and the developer team is estimated to be very small.
it is improving, but very very very slowly, and because its a live service game with dedicated servers, theres an extremely high chance that this game will die before it gets enough attention so that its better than payday2.
the only reason i'd play this game over payday2 is because its engine and graphics feel so much better.
if i was to put a price tag on this game, i'd say year 1 edition is $15 USD. its not that though so i can't recommend it, and trust me, you'd want year 1 edition. i can't imagine playing this game without its dlc.

gameplay is amazing, my only complaints are the weapon variety is poor and sometimes your hired roster does stupid stuff.
story is... well
in faiths region you do what she says or you don't progress. isn't this a game about defiance against the cult-terrorists???
in jacobs region the writers insult you and think you're easy to manipulate, also you do what he says or you don't progress.
johns region is great actually, my only complaint is there's too much shaking camera and smoke in the final fight. (i did this one first)
in josephs region... stuff happens... did the writers just... not know what to do??? i don't know what they were thinking.

in summary, open world sure, but a closed story. i think this is better played as a sandbox game.
