I never played a Street Fighter game before and I have to say that if you are new to fighting games like me, Street Fighter 6 (SF6) is the game for you. If you dont want to get destroyed by experienced players online, you can play world tour which is basically an RPG-like story mode, but it is useful to get the hang of the combat in the game. The NPCs you beat up for the most part dont have any special moves, so they are easy to beat up. You can also pick a master to train you and the masters are basically the playable characters in multiplayer. You start with Luke as your master and not too long you can also pick up Chun-Li's fighting style and have her be your master (just keep in mind that her style is very hard to master, but you dont need to be good with it to beat World Tour). As you progress through the storyline, you will meet even more masters and learn more different fight styles, so picking and trying them out will help you in your quest to determine what is true strength.

The multiplayer is also fun. If you are a new player, you can find a new player server in the battlehub. This will be full of new players like you where you guys can go in the cabinet and play matches with each other. There MAY be smurfs (people who are experienced at the game but create a new account to match new players). The best way to check is to look at their win rates. If you see them facing and beating diamonds and masters and have an 80%+ win rate, then you know that is a smurf so avoid them. But for the most part, it will be new players.

Fighting ground is also fun. This is where you can go into training mode and practice new techs, combos, etc. with your character. You can also select an opponent character and turn on frame display in the settings so you can see the frame data on each move. This is what you will want to do as you continue playing the game and get better because knowing what is safe on block and what isnt will make a big difference and this game does a very good job at explaining these mechanics for you. Just know that it takes time to get better and rank up, so don't get discouraged.

As someone who doesn't play fighting games, SF6 is definitely an exception. Almost everything in the game is great. Only con is the music isnt great and the amount of microtransactions for avatars is a lot for the lack of costumes characters have. Also not being able to lab DLC characters without having to purchase them is a big complaint I have as well. You can use character rentals, sure, but each only lasts an hour and there is a limited amount you can collect per season, so what if you want to lab all the DLC characters? You have only one hour for each?

So other than the greed Capcom has, the game itself is fun and I'd recommend this over other fighting games like Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 1.
