Stunningly beautiful, fantastic gameplay, a tad bit frustrating in terms of difficulty. A strong GOTY contender for me.

What kind of monsters release a survival crafting game with no roof corner pieces?

I firmly believe, when all is said and done, that this will go down as one of the very best co-op horde shooters of all time.

That said, in its current state, I simply cannot recommend it. Coming up on two weeks since the game was released, it is still plagued by bugs, terrible server instability, and basic frustrations like mission rewards disappearing.

This was fine, and totally understandable given Arrowhead's AA nature, in the few days after release. But at a certain point in time, one has to wonder just what's going on over there. How can the same very fundamental problems with the game continue to reappear, even as the game is patched multiple times a day?

In many ways, this feels like what looking for for a long time now. While strongly reminiscent of Zelda: BOTW, Skyrim, and Valheim, this game does enough new to feel distinct and fresh. It's huge, it's beautiful, the combat is fun and crsip, and the building system is a breath of fresh air -- far deeper than I've seen in this genre in a while, and significantly better and less janky than Valheim's.

I haven't felt this way about a video game since childhood.

Are there bugs and little issues? Sure. But none of that takes away from the sense of pure immersion and freedom that Starfield gives. A truly incredible experience.

One of, if not THE, most incredibly frustrating game experiences I have ever had. I want to love this game SO SO SO much, and there's so much right about this game. Unfortunately, the devs just can't seem to get out of their own damn way, and what is left is an incredibly buggy piece of trash that is virtually unplayable. Tonight, after not being able to play for two weeks straight due to matchmaking bugs and freezing, I managed to play one game. Now I can no longer play anymore. I will be asking for my money back.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

UPDATE: 5 years later, this game is still ass.
